Ammania Hotel in Amman

the hotel is lacking of stuff, and when i had entered the room , it was smilly and not clean at all , even the washroom bin was full of tissue paper from the one who was before me . I really didn't like my experience there .

There are two things that this Hotel has going for it - the location and the friendliness of the staff. The hotel throughout was freezing. Our room on both occasions was warmed only by a three bar electric heater, which we definitely weren't going to leave plugged in through the night. The wiring was a shambles. The bathroom was poorly stocked and when we requested more shampoo and shower gel, we were told that there wasn't any shampoo (a great blow as our luggage had been lost by the airline and we initially had no toiletries). The safe had no lock on it and had to be replaced - twice. It was not attached to anything and was just loose in the wardrobe. Breakfast was poor and we only found out later that we could have eggs cooked to order. The bar, although displaying a multitude of wine bottles and spirits, had nothing. On the couple of occasions that we drank there, we were asked what we wanted and someone went to a local liquour store and purchased it. Then we were charged a horrendous amount for the privilege, much more than we had paid outside the hotel. There is only onevery small lift and we needed to take our suitcases up, one at a time. I struggle to understand why this is advertised as a 4* hotel on the website that we booked on.

Do not stay at this place. Please don’t stay here. The rooms are small and poorly designed. Construction quality is poor and service quality is worse. Elevator broke dow, had to take 7 floors of stairs and the door handles to exit are broken. It smells, no ventilation in elevator or hall ways. Balcony is small and vents are broken. It is not up to standard regardless of how it looks from the outside. Don’t do it!!!

The only reason I stayed here is because this hotel was booked by Intrepid as part of a tour of Jordan. This is not a hotel I would have booked myself, as I believe there are far better hotels available in Amman. Due to my flight arriving in the early hours of the morning I arrived at the hotel around 4am. I asked if I could have my room early, and said I would pay for the early check in. The gentleman kindly obliged, but insisted I could only pay by cash and not by card - with no explanation as to why, when it clearly states on their website that they accepted both card and cash payments. When I did pay the JOD 25 on my departure I was not given a receipt. So call me suspicious, but it’s my belief that cash was not processed through the books, hence the insistence on cash payment. The room itself was pretty basic, but comfortable enough. I only slept for a few hours that first day, as I wanted to explore Amman and not spend all day in bed. I was pretty cold that first night and realised it was because the window did not fully close - there was a gap of around half a centimetre. So the following night I requested an extra blanket. The bathroom definitely needed updating, but it was more than adequate. I had WiFi in my room, but the television wasn’t working. I could also smell cigarette smoke in the room. I was provided with a large bottle of water each day. Breakfast was unimpressive. If you want toast, be prepared to stand there holding down the toaster! There is fruit available, but I question their freshness. The hotel is less than a ten minute walk from downtown, and I walked to the Citadel in under half an hour. Amman is very hilly, so be prepared for lots of steps and steep slopes. If you’re not in the best shape physically, you might be better off using taxis. To summarise: it’s my belief that there are far better hotels in more desirable locations for the same price (or less) in Amman. Would I recommend this hotel to my friends? No. Would I stay here again? No.
