Antika Amman Hotel in Amman

The Antika Hotel is off the First Circle in Amman. The main entrance to the hotel is tucked away in a small lane off Rainbow Street while a second entrance is on the other side of the building nearer the First Circle. The hotel reception is located on the second floor of the large building above the Bank of Jordan. The lift to the second floor stops working after 1.00 am but can be summoned by a bell near the lift. The walk up the stairs with bags is challenging. The hotel appears to be a small family run hotel. Without exception the staff makes guests feel welcome and part of their family. They were ready to offer assistance and provide advice on matters of interest. The room was clean and had a very comfortable bed. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom. Breakfast is served buffet style from 7.30 am to 10.00 am and can be best described as a little more than a continental breakfast. Juices, hard boiled eggs, cheese, processed sliced meat, pitta bread, tomatoes and other vegetables served Arabic style are provided. Quantities are sufficient to ensure that no one leaves the table hungry. The hotel is within walking distance of the many restaurants in Rainbow Street. Small shops, similar to 7/11s in other countries are nearby as are banks and pharmacies. The downtown area is a taxi ride from the hotel. The staff was helpful in pointing out what they consider to be the best restaurants in the area and describing the different menus offered by each. They recommended various money exchange shops and warned against those outlets which had a policy of charging tourists commission on foreign exchange transactions. The Antika hotel is a comfortable hotel staffed by pleasant, helpful people. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Budget friendly, good location for the rainbow street, some walking to the city center and to sights, Hotel is in one floor of some former business building rooms are big and nicely decorated. No sound proofing, bathroom needs to be renovated, towels changed (they are old) , the breakfast was on the poor-is side, the morning-breakfast boy, who worked there was a bit rude and unwilling to help with our requests such as a taxi ordering or excursion arranging. on the checkout they charged us with a coffee which we thought it is complementary like in almost every hotels nowadays. The hotel was nice but some of these experiences made us very disappointed...

The hotel is located near the central Rainbow street and the downtown is in walking distance. The lobby is nice and the room was clean with comfortable beds, but the bathroom was outdated with old towels. The breakfast is simple, but ok. The old lady, the owner I think, offered us a coffee when we asked for a hot water. We understand that the coffee was a gesture, a welcome drink, but the bill for it waited for us when we checked out. The short, bearded guy at the reception was pretty uninformed and unfriendly, he was unable to call a taxi for us. The hospitality of locals was great through whole Jordan except in this hotel.
