Reviews
Hallway very noisy all morning with people hanging around in there. My room is a single near the entrance hall. Cant open the door to the outside area. Items left by others ( I think) wash up liquid, shower gel etc
No breakfast even if it says "free breakfast"
1) Front door is broken and there is nobody in the reception area. Anybody can walk in off the street and wonder around the building at anytime. Reviews show that this isn't a new problem and the host is aware of it.
2) Our first room had an awful smell, not strong, but not acceptable. The bathmat was dirty and a hole in the towel. Also just one knife and fork when we've booked for two.
3) Our second room shared a wall with the elevator, so we heard it every time it was in use. The passage facing wall is so thin (just gypsum I presume) so we heard all the noise from passers-by, there was a lot of loud talking, laughing, etc that was annoying.
4) We complained to the host, who solution to the problem was to accuse us of lying to get a refund and suggested that we leave a day early since we were so difficult.
So, if you're here to party and just need a bed to sober up, go ahead. But if you want a decent place with a friendly host, may I suggest you look elsewhere.
Disliked - I can not say the same about the guy, who is the manager or operator. At the first, he seems very polite and helpful, but when you mention some problems, that you have in your room, he becomes very rude and unpolite. I stayed there for 8 nights and all those days I had a water heating problem in my room. I had only 2 minutes of hot water, after only COLD WATER!!! He wanted to solve the problem but had no success. And when I asked him, that he must reimburse my stay, because I could not have a normal shower, he became very unpolite!!!! No respect. And for this guy, who has no respect to the guest - 1/10.
In addition, the front part of air-conditioning was broken and it was just hold in you bed. And what was the solution by the manager - next day they fixed it by plastic scotch. It was very dangerous, because every time it could felt down on you bed and in you.
I would come back to this hotel if I were to return to Malta.

We stayed in a deluxe room. Lots of space, tea and coffee included, balcony, comfortable bed. We weren't disturbed in the night by anything internal or external.
Upon checkout which is at 12 latest they offered to look after our luggage until our airport transportation arrived.
I cannot say anything more about how great our experience was - just top class service and fantastic experience overall. Highly recommended. If we do come to Malta again, we will book AX The Palace without any hesitation.
Superior room with balcony. Amazing hotel and located 10 minutes walk from the sea in almost every direction. Lots to local shops, bars, restaurants nearby. Once by the seafront, you can hop onto the ferry to take you to Valletta, much faster and more scenic than the bus/taxi. Back to the hotel itself, the service from all the staff was amazing every day. Housekeeping went above and beyond cleaning the room, so much so all my toiletries were neatly lined up in the bathroom every morning. Phone charge cables etc all rolled up and put neatly on bedside cabinet. We stayed bed and breakfast. Great variety of hot and cold food, fresh fruit and juices. We asked to be located in the quiet part of the restaurant and without hesitation the table was set up. Every single of member of staff went above and beyond. Will definitely stay again.
At check-in, we upgraded from a Superior Room to the Music Suite for a small additional fee, and it was absolutely worth it. The suite is spacious, bright, and truly unique, featuring two comfortable king-size beds, a large bathroom, drums and a high-quality music sound system, and a large terrace with a jacuzzi and stunning views of the city and Valletta. As a welcome, we received a bottle of champagne and a fruit platter. Housekeeping was excellent, with cleaning twice a day and daily water refills.
The staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Despite arriving before official check-in time, we were offered breakfast on the first day, luggage storage, early room preparation, and access to the pool while waiting.
Breakfast offered a good variety, although it was mostly the same each day. The hotel has several restaurants and a café for lunch and dinner.
There are two pools: a rooftop pool with sea views (not heated during our stay) and an indoor pool with a sauna and steam room, which is smaller than it appears in photos and has a capacity of 18 people. The indoor pool is also shared with guests from AX The Victoria, which could lead to more crowding during the high season, although this was not an issue during our stay.
The location is excellent—on a quiet street, yet within walking distance of public transport, supermarkets, seaside promenades, shopping centers, and stores.
Overall, the hotel met all our expectations. It is comfortable, family-friendly, and ideal for longer stays. We would gladly return and highly recommend it.
I stayed in a deluxe room, which was very comfortable and spacious, with a lovely balcony that I really enjoyed. The location is another big advantage — it’s very convenient and offers easy access to nearby areas.
The only downside was that I visited during the New Year holiday, and the indoor swimming pool was quite small and often busy.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant place to stay in Sliema.
