Kronen Gaard Hotel in Sandnes

I stayed at Kronen Gaard Hotel for about a week. We had 2 rooms one of which we had to switch due to lack of space and it just being a lot crappier than the other rooms.

When we arrived with our service dog we got scolded in norwegian by an employee for not informing the hotel that we had a dog. Something that we had done in connection with booking. She then rescolded us in English when after her entire introduction asked if we understood norwegian. This short and black haired woman was someone who we all percieved as rude and stressed. She would rush about despite not really having any guests.

She quickly gave us the rooms one of which was notably better than the other. The better room 232 was decently sized and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and fresh. However, the window-latch broke, the desk's surface was aged, dirty and stained, the card based electricity system didnt really work and would work without the card then randomly switch off. The carpet was kinda nasty. We recieved new towels but no new soap or shampoo. We didnt get new sheets they only remade the bed with the old sheets. The room was facing the road and there are lots of noise especially at night.

Room 216 was a lot worse than 232. The carpet was the color of dog pee, being a dog friendly room thats slightly concerning and did not feel fresh. The room was oddly shaped and small. It was uncomfortable. The bathroom only had a stand-up shower instead of the Bathtub every other room we saw had. The way to get to 216 was through a small thin staircase and generally seemed like a section of the hotel that didnt get much love.

The staff we encoubtered besides from the black-short-haired lady was generally pleasant. There was a young man who was very helpful and accomodating. He also complimented our dog and was both professional and nice. The kitchen staff would not answer even if you thanked them for breakfast. One groundskeeper who watered the plants when we had breakfast only glared at us.

The Kronen Gaard Hotel is in a good location. Its close to Sravanger and closer to Sandnes, but you do need a car. Dalsnuten is nearby and provides 7 mountainpeaks to hike up. Neighbouring the hotel is a privately owned house who has pigs and goats to walk by on public roads.

The restaurant was good, very pricy but the tsste was good, the veggies fresh and the meat tender. The fish a little overdone but still good. The portion sized left something to be desired and the experience was inconsistant. One day we recieved bread. And a øl menu when we asked and another day we didnt.

All in all my stay was pleasant but the price was quite steep especially for such a run-down hotel with paint on the windows.
