This was our second time staying at the Jardins D’Ajuda Suite Hotel and we were not disapointed in the slightest! The rooms were cleaned daily and beds very comfortable! Food was great and staff friendly. We went in July and there were never too many people round the pool which made for a really pleasant experience. If you're wanting a great base to go out and explore what Madeira has to offer, then look no further than the Jardins D’Ajuda Suite Hotel!

On arrival I was checked in by a very helpful lady. I had not printed my Jet2 Hotel Voucher. She explained to me how to download it from the app and email it to the hotel. Ok the hotel is dated but I felt very comfortable. The reception area was fully open. There is a building site over the road but to be honest the wind noise from the parasols was louder than the building work. In my opinion you should ignore previous bad reviews.

We were staying at this hotel for 2 weeks. In the second week I was lying on a sun bed around the empty pool (no water). I decided to go to the outside toilet instead of the inside toilet near the reception. I approached the concrete step into the toilet & put my left foot down on it,my foot shot from under me & I hit the floor. My left knee was out of place & I tried to put it back.I then tried to raise myself but I could not. The step had been wet & greasy & I slipped on it. The 2 gardeners came to my rescue & called the staff who then called for ambulance.Eventually 3 paramedics arrived & put me on a stretcher.I was then lifted into an ambulance & my partner came with me to the local hospital.7 hours later I was diagnosed with a ruptured Quadriceps tendon (very bad injury). I was put in plaster from thigh to ankle & discharged.I was put in a taxi & went back to the hotel. No crutches or wheelchair. Fortunately one of the doorman/security found me a pair of crutches & the hotel wheelchair.Top man who saved the day. During the next 4 days, not one person from management came to see me or even speak to me as I hobbled about the hotel. The following day after the incident a yellow hazard sign was placed by the toilet. The Jet2 rep said that a rubber mat should be placed outside the toilet. In short, please be aware when you go to this outside toilet. My slip has cost me dearly in terms of an operation to re-attach my knee cap back onto the tendon.6 months rehab & regular physio to be able to walk again. This happened on the 13th of Jan 2025.As we left the hotel on the 17th I was given an envelope containing the accident report by a receptionist not management. It read "Mr Russell informed reception that he had slipped".That was the extent of the management involvement. I did not inform reception at all,I was on a stretcher heading towards the ambulance & hospital. It must have been staff who informed them. So there you have it,tread carefully if you use the outside toilet. Cheers.

Were were on group walking holiday with a company. We got rooms on the first floor facing road. Noise was increased by scraping furniture on rooms above etc Receptionist was dour & disinterested. Room was spacious & I thought clean , but I trod on a cockroach on night 4 when room was unlit. Next door ( in our party) had a cockroach too. Different night. We both reported it , to almost no interest. Hotel caters to tour groups & restaurant is very busy. Breakfast selection quite good , but tea water is out of machine so never hot enough. Our package tour was half board. Evening meals were not great .Food replenished as evening goes on . Desserts particularly poor. We ate out on last night for a treat.

Wasn't sure what to expect. Quite disappointing arrived at lunchtime (12 ish) lots of work going on inside the lobby. The most miserable receptionist I've ever come across no smile , no welcome to Madeira just you can't have your room till 3 pm.no chance of having it any earlier been travelling since 3 am but tough. Asked if there was anywhere to get a drink and she just pointed outside and said pool bar. No sign posts outside pool bar is set aside from the pool, it was set up for a private function at the night .hotel has a crane in one corner noisy all day long 6 days a week. Quite a dated and dingy hotel. Finally got into the room and it was okay everything you need. The breakfast was okay fair bit of choice. We only went b &b , so don't know what the evening food was like. The shopping centre is just at the bottom of the hill and then right, there's shops, cafes Mc Donalds, KFC and more good places and a very large cheap supermarket. Just across the road is the bus stop to Funchal only €1.90 really regular service. We had room 453

Booked here for 2 nights price seemed reasonable. Hotel Entrance was half closed off on arrival we pulled up outside in the Drive not sure if it was the Right Hotel NO sign above the Entrance. We were told valet parking! In reality we were told carpark was round the corner unfortunately 😕 we didn't get our luggage out of the car while infront of the Hotel , what a Treck to get back to the Hotel with luggage. This is a very poor 3 star if that, very dated and dirty rooms felt unclean and Bathroom corridors smelt awful of sewage . We had a terrible problem with Ants in the kitchen area in our suite Reception obviously are well prepared as only one can of Ant spray, Reception rang our room asking for the can back after 5 minutes my husband took it back then ended up following her back upstairs to our Neighbouring room so obviously a big problem. As we said very dated on having a walk around the outside of the Hotel we realised they are actually rebuilding it bit by bit as half Reception is all boarded up and left hand side of the building is a building site old front still there see pic. We can see once it's been rebuilt it will be lovely and modern. In our opinion not a place we would ever go back as it stands now. Breakfast was OK but nothing to shout about glad we were only there 2 nights it was more than enough could not wait to leave. On a good note location good near a shopping centre lovely walks around the Seafront but all very hilly if your not fit .

All areas of the hotel were clean and tidy. Bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Good choice of food at buffet breakfast. Pool areas had plenty of sun-loungers and there is a heated indoor pool. Hotel location is good being a short walk to the coastal paths and frequent bus service to central Funchal.

We read previous reviews and were concerned. The concerns were unfounded. We stayed for 28 days in sea view rooms and loved it. Facilities I.e indoor and outdoor pool, sauna, steam room and weight room were well maintained as were the gardens. Swimming towels were free on production of issued card. Staff were friendly and helpful and room maid service excellent. Breakfasts were varied and substantial catering for every taste. Evening meals were more restricted but adequate. There was nightly entertainment. The location was perfect for able bodied but I could see the hilly location being a problem for those that are not. Building work going on next door ( like a large number of hotels) didn't detract from holiday. Would we stay in this hotel again YES. The Island is spectacularly beautiful.
    07.01.2025
The worst thing is the cleanliness, the bad smell in the room and the lack of kindness and attention from the reception staff. I needed to make more than five phone calls from Spain to get them to find the person who made the New Year's Eve dinner reservations.
    I will not return.

Hotel corridors with a very old appearance, rooms equipped with very old furniture, the meals served (except breakfast) are only of quality on dates served, the hotel does not have free parking. Breakfast is quality, the indoor pool has a pleasant atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff ready to help.
