Wonderful and modern and clean. Lovely food and great staff at all the bars and waiters make great conversation. Drink is great and so is the lovely big bed. Very good location for a lot of activities around the hotel, friendly staff that helps you 24/7. At the evening there is a band playing some live music every evening for +- 1,5 hour. We were upgraded to a room with a sea view. I recommend booking only this room, it is perfect. Own balcony with a sofa. The hotel was full of pensioners from bus tours. The location is not very good, parking is very expensive (30 euros/night), but because of the view we forgave everything)

We stayed for our honeymoon in Madeira and loved it! The spa amenities, daily breakfast buffet and of course the views were incredible. We rented a car from the front desk and that process was SO easy and seamless. Parking was free and easy. This was the perfect spot for us to easily get on the highways and explore the island of Madeira each day. My husband and I are truly so pleased

Well presented clean & comfortable hotel with good facilities - particularly the pools - and beautiful gardens overlooking the Atlantic. Everything about this hotel is wonderful from the check-in process to the check-out process. I recommend the halfboard. The buffets offer something for everyone. There are also very good restaurants and shopping center within walking distance. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the marina. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Returned last week from a weeks holiday here at the Bia Azul Hotel. Unfortunately, toward the end of the week, my wife slipped on a wet floor just after entering the hotel, crashing to the ground and breaking her leg. Such a sad end to our week away. We had a very pleasant stay at Baia Azul in october. Good breakfast, plenty of choices.It's a five stars from us.The hotel has good size rooms, good facilities like indoor pool,gym,plenty of terraces where you can have your meal or relax. The hotel is ideally situated with some great views from the rooftop bar. It has a contemporary feel and there are plenty of shops and restaurants in comfortable walking distance. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I'd like to make a special mention to both Andre and Bruno, who were great conversation from behind the bar. If I come back to Madeira, this will be my first choice.

A traditional hotel approx half an hour walk to the Old Town but with steep hill so might not suit older person to walk. This is our second stay at this hotel and didn't disappoint. All the staff couldn't do enough for you and all happy faces. The view from the room was amazing. Just got back today from Maderia. We stayed in Funchal Design Hotel. I cannot rate this hotel enough. Staff were warm, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Ido not understand the criticism being given on some reviews, what do they want? The place was exceptionally clean and central to where you need to be / get to. Don't hesitate to book this place you won't regret it.

Due to glitch in the reservation system, the hotel was overbook. We were transported by hotel's shuttle to their other property Hotel Quinta Mirabella. Beautiful hotel with excellent views. The hotel is very close to the city, therefore you have some traffic noise. But the distance is of course also nice - just view steps and you enter the city center!

Enjoyable stay with friends in this lovely city based boutique hotel. Ideally situated for exploring funchal. We used the Hotels courtesy bus one day to take us to their sister hotel, which had amazing views. Room was very comfortable, no complaints. Staff lovely, very attentive and helpful.
