The hotel restaurant charges the same as places outside, and there are plenty of options across the street, plus a supermarket. Buying drinks and snacks to enjoy back in the room was also a lovely treat

With two large beds and a small sofa bed, it easily accommodated four of us. We spent the unexpected extra day relaxing at the hotel, enjoying the beautiful scenery and delicious food

The pool is saltwater, so it's best to keep your head above water when swimming. There's another pool a few levels down, and if you're a strong swimmer, you can even go for a dip in the sea

Due to a cancelled flight, we had an extra day and decided to stay here again. We booked a slightly smaller family suite, but it was still very spacious

Thanks to the beautiful and enthusiastic Ms. Erica at the front desk for giving us a perfect experience. The hotel has a great location. There are many delicious restaurants just outside

The room was nice, and room service was good, but one day it wasn't cleaned properly.

Service and food was excellent, with beautiful ocean views and infinity pool. Pool table was good but not much activities at teen club. Steam room was out of service during our trip. Overall a good, relaxing break.

The room was small, and the number of towels provided was limited. The restaurants changed frequently, meaning I didn't get to try both during my short stay

They offer all-you-can-eat hot pizza, and if you time it right, they'll even bake you your own pizza with your favorite toppings. The pool was spacious and we were able to relax

Had a lovely break and were surprised with an upgraded room. Couldn’t fault anything. The indoor pool was lovely and warm. Great hotel with so much on offer

Since it was all-inclusive, we were able to eat and drink at one of the restaurants. The restaurant I recommend is an Italian cafe called VELA DI CANALE

Other than the location being quite a long way to walk to town, very quiet area with little options of bars around the area, ideal for someone who enjoys the full benefits of peace and quiet

While the food selection was overall very good, we would’ve loved to see more beef and chicken options, as there was a lot of pork and fish

The view was fantastic, but the facilities were too old. The service was very attentive and meticulous. I stayed for five nights, tried different cocktails, and watched the sunset. It was a nice old hotel.

The swimming pool was cold, there was no toothpaste , no electric kettle in the room, no complimentary water, the room was outdated, the shower was very old and difficult to use, in all honesty this hotel room was a 2 star at best

Rita at the front desk was very friendly and gave me a great room. The night view at night was also beautiful. You can see the magnificent Atlantic Ocean at the breakfast area

My second stay at Alto Lido this year and it was even better than the first. Staff is professional and polite. I was kindly surprised with a room upgrade which was beautiful and comfortable

Amazing hotel, friendly staff. Got upgraded to a nicer room, view as obstructed by construction, but I won't complain as we got a bigger room. Parking was paid, but not to expensive.

The hotel is located near the embankment, has a good view of the ocean. Large rooms with a balcony. Wi-Fi is fast. Breakfasts are very varied and delicious.

I booked a total of 2 weeks with half board and I am more than thrilled. Very friendly staff at the reception both in the dining room and in the spa

Bizarrely, they charge extra for a swim in the indoor pool, although staying for a week on half board!

Food was good when everything in the area was closed down and my massage with Maria was out of this world book your spot ahead of time because it sells out very quickly. Upon arrival there’s no openings

Great hotel We loved our stay here. Amazing food, nice staff, great big rooms. The only downside is that we were put into an accessible room when we didn’t need it so the toilet and shower were not very comfortable

Very difficult to find pool staff , restaurant , poor recommendations from reception staff etc - often just did it ourselves

The demographic is a bit older but my fiance and I expected this. The sites poolside were breathtaking and there were plenty of places to sit

The hotel has many beautiful photo zones with views of the ocean and the sunrise! Luxurious terrace! Outdoor pool and jacuzzi are not with ice water, we went in the winter without any problems

Ours was in 8th floor and the view from the balcony was amazing. Full points well deserved, especially for the price compared to others in the area!

We like to enjoy the sea when in Madeira but due to inclement weather, it was not actually possible as the lido areas were closed and the sea was very rough. The evening entertainment was a broad mix throughout the week

Returned last week from a weeks holiday here at the Bia Azul Hotel. Unfortunately, toward the end of the week, my wife slipped on a wet floor just after entering the hotel, crashing to the ground and breaking her leg

Any request being quickly attended. We used both the indoor and outdoor pools several times during our stay; my preference outdoor, my wife's indoor. Both pools were at a pleasant temperature

The cleanliness of the hotel was superb, I’ve never seen such a clean pool area, loved being in the pool! Cleaning of room was great and friendly staff

The mattresses were really soft at first but I ended up sleeping well. The internet is very weak, but somehow everywhere on the island, not enough to work in my opinion

Turn left out of hotel and walk 20 mins and some great restaurants got to try Bistrot Des Agnes. Turn right and 25 mins walk into Funchal. We’re coming back and will definitely stay at Porto Mare again

Well presented clean & comfortable hotel with good facilities - particularly the pools - and beautiful gardens overlooking the Atlantic. Excellent breakfast with lots of choice and 5-6pm Happy Hour is a winner

Room was great and the hotel picked up from the passports that it was my wife’s birthday and left some bubbles for us when we returned from a Levada walk

The hotel is fantastic and we ate in the Italian and Portuguese restaurants. The food was delicious and reasonably priced

We were welcomed and given a tour of the historic hotel by the front desk upon arrival. The room upgrade was to a suite overlooking the bay. The room, bed, and bath were clean and comfortable

A small gift arrived each day of our stay. The 1891 Bar proved to be an excellent alternative as we preferred early and smaller dinners. The Christmas brunch had excellent food options; it was a buffet next to the pools

Wonderful stay in the wonderful Reid's Palace! Beautiful, tranquil surroundings a mere 15-20 min walk from Funchal. We stayed in a Superior Room which was spacious and comfortable

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The views are great, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast buffet has a wide range of choice

Our room had been updated , however we were disappointed not to find bath robes, it would have been nice to wrap up on a morning to enjoy the views with a coffee and they would have also been useful when using the indoor pool

According with 4*, rooms are cleaned everyday, towels are replaced everyday, laundry service is available but there are few things missing like: slippers, bathrobes, iron and kettle with tea - if you compare stars with "old continent"

However, the reception staff were outstanding – it’s not often that you get excellent service with a sense of humour

We were given a room initially but the view was marred by a tree so we asked for a higher floor, they found us room 150 and the views were great

The rooms are clean and large. The staff is very nice and helpful. The breakfast selection is first class and the quality is excellent. The pool is nice with a large selection of seats and sun loungers.

The rooms are very cozy and extremely well equipped, making it easy to relax and enjoy the stay. The weather was just perfect during our visit, and the food was absolutely amazing as well

Beautiful hotel set in a great location within walking distance from Funchal centre. Well kept gardens and pool area with plenty of sun loungers and comfortable seating areas. Our room was stunning with amazing views

Amazing experience at Royal Savoy Madeira. Everything about the stay felt special

The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly — they often help you even before you ask, like bringing sun umbrellas near the sea or the pool, which makes you feel really taken care of

There are some things the resort could do better though: (1) food quality should be better; (2) the beds were too firm for us; (3) very few daytime on-site activities (including nothing for the padel court - there is a good padel centre 2kms away)

A pleasent stay Stayed here over the new year for about a week. The hotel is very clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is good and the ocean view from the balcony is beautiful

And although the staff did provide us with a large mattress on top, it still isn’t quite the same thing as a real double bed. But these are minor things and the overall experience in the hotel was very nice

The pillows were a bit hard for me personally. And the bed is not a real double bed, but two small beds next to each other

I loved the gym and wellness options! And the pool was so relaxing! We enjoyed the terrace on our room a lot! Breakfast at Allegro Madeira was phenomenal - we loved the buffet set up and the grill for omelettes and eggs! The nespresso lattes were also a favorite! The value for price received was great! The rooftop bar for a sunset drink is a must!

Loved this hotel! I loved this hotel! It had everything you needed and felt very relaxed and unpretentious. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and the pool area and rooftop bar were both great

All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I'd like to make a special mention to both Andre and Bruno, who were great conversation from behind the bar. If I come back to Madeira, this will be my first choice

Really nice touches like sweets in the lobby and places to refill water bottle. Gym and sauna area also great and could make a tea in there after along with the rooftop bar to watch the sunset

I have mixed feelings about my stay. On the positive side, the breakfast was very good, and the view from the pool area is truly beautiful. However, the overall style of the hotel really didn't appeal to me

We stayed here for our anniversary and were blown away by the quality of the Vine hotel. The room was high tech and spacious. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and polite. It is in a perfect location in Funchal

Superb breakfast selection and cocktails too. My only small gripe is very unsupportive pillows but a very minor issue overall in a really great hotel

The term "jacuzzi" is used to describe the small pool on the rooftop and spa, but it is simply a normal pool - not heated nor with jets. Location is central and located in a mall entrance

Good gym facility and excellent spa with jacuzzi and relaxation area that were very welcome - unfortunately the very nice looking roof terrace was off limits due to the weather

Hot tub was not heated! Pool was too cold to go in, but the weather was chilly so we wouldn’t have wanted to go in anyways. Excellent selection of fresh fruits, bakery, eggs, yogurt. There are no amenities in the room

Our room was super clean and spacious, and the subtropical garden was absolutely beautiful. The property was so peaceful and quiet, and the staff was incredibly attentive. I couldn’t recommend this place more!

No ice bucket, snacks, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. Shower was very small and the bed was shot on one side, the other side of the bed was comfortable. No furniture on patio view of the ocean

A traditional hotel approx half an hour walk to the Old Town but with steep hill so might not suit older person to walk. Room was spacious with large balcony and had fabulous views of the sea and garden

Room cleaned daily, very comfortable bed & lovely hot shower. Continental breakfast, had to eat inside as there were pigeons on the patio. Joes bar on the premises & an English bar across the road

During check-in, they provided a thorough introduction to the facilities and even personally guided us around, explaining everything (perhaps because the beachfront pool was accessed via the back garden)

Just as we were checking out, we witnessed a guest in the lobby suddenly choking. The front desk staff quickly sprang into action, performing the Heimlich maneuver and saving a life. All in all, everything was fantastic

The walls of the room were too thin. The voice and noise from other room could be heard as if we were in the same riom.

We were not told of the steepness of the path leading to the hotel, which was difficult for my wife to negotiate. We were half board but we're not told drinks were not included with our evening meal, not even water

Good localisation, food very tasty for the luch and a lot of acomodities nearby the hotel, the center of funchal is a bit far by feet.

We booked a triple room 3 beds last min with late bird price. However they gave us double room 2 beds. It's on the 1st floor just next to tennis court which is quite noisy. It's 31 degree F, no air conditioner
