Since it was all-inclusive, we were able to eat and drink at one of the restaurants. The restaurant I recommend is an Italian cafe called VELA DI CANALE. They offer all-you-can-eat hot pizza, and if you time it right, they'll even bake you your own pizza with your favorite toppings. The pool was spacious and we were able to relax. I'd love to stay here again.

A very, very nice hotel. Ms. Rita at the front desk was very friendly and gave me a great room. The night view at night was also beautiful. You can see the magnificent Atlantic Ocean at the breakfast area. There are many types of breakfast, especially fruits.

The swimming pool was cold, there was no toothpaste , no electric kettle in the room, no complimentary water, the room was outdated, the shower was very old and difficult to use, in all honesty this hotel room was a 2 star at best. The reception area was indeed a 5 star and that was it.

This hotel is generally ok. But some staff needs training as I had very hard time to program my room key, which receptionist fails to do so 3 times during check in which was really annoying as I arrived to hotel after very long flight.

We stayed for our honeymoon in Madeira and loved it! The spa amenities, daily breakfast buffet and of course the views were incredible. We rented a car from the front desk and that process was SO easy and seamless. Parking was free and easy. This was the perfect spot for us to easily get on the highways and explore the island of Madeira each day. My husband and I are truly so pleased

Had a great stay at Protobay. The service was amazing, the rooms were very clean, and the views were beautiful. The rooms are a little outdated, but the breakfast buffet was excellent, and the complimentary bottle of wine was a lovely touch. Toiletries were Bulgari and slippers provided.

For a long time I wanted to stay and did read many reviews the hotel is all people rave about and more ! Amazing balcony views and i did enjoy the view of the Port of Funchal it really has the best location in Funchal . The rooms are spacious with a very private balcony (6th floor) extremely comfortable beds. The service was excellent from everyone we met .

Everything about this hotel is wonderful from the check-in process to the check-out process. I recommend the halfboard. The buffets offer something for everyone. There are also very good restaurants and shopping center within walking distance. The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the marina. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Returned last week from a weeks holiday here at the Bia Azul Hotel. Unfortunately, toward the end of the week, my wife slipped on a wet floor just after entering the hotel, crashing to the ground and breaking her leg. Such a sad end to our week away. We had a very pleasant stay at Baia Azul in october. Good breakfast, plenty of choices.It's a five stars from us.The hotel has good size rooms, good facilities like indoor pool,gym,plenty of terraces where you can have your meal or relax. The location is fantastic with great sea views, close to Funchal, bus stop outside the hotel, restaurants in the proximity. Happy to return next time when in Madeira

Well presented clean & comfortable hotel with good facilities - particularly the pools - and beautiful gardens overlooking the Atlantic. The hotel is ideally situated with some great views from the rooftop bar. It has a contemporary feel and there are plenty of shops and restaurants in comfortable walking distance. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I'd like to make a special mention to both Andre and Bruno, who were great conversation from behind the bar. If I come back to Madeira, this will be my first choice.

Great location, super nice staff, comfortable rooms and good varied buffet breakfast only down side was that the room with ocean view did not have much of a view at all. The walls of the room were too thin. The voice and noise from other room could be heard as if we were in the same riom.

The rooms were nice and spacious with nice balconies on a great location. The rooms could use a renovation and be better cleaned especially in more hidden places like under the bed.
