Excellent hotel with loads of facilities. Some of the highlights are: large bedrooms, nice sea view balcony's, large public spaces with comfortable seating, huge swimming pool, rooftop bar and infinity pool. Great hotel. Great views. The room was spacious and had a great view of the pool and ocean. The staff were lovely but the service was slow I must admit. The sky bar was fantastic. The bar downstairs was lovely too, however the ladies room was missing a few things. Like the soap dish and the faucet? But still, a beautiful place!

The best hotel in Madeira. I recommend upgrading to the upper lounge. There you can have a quiet breakfast with a stunning view of the ocean and Funchal. There is a terrace and a small pool.

A very, very nice hotel. Ms. Rita at the front desk was very friendly and gave me a great room. The night view at night was also beautiful. You can see the magnificent Atlantic Ocean at the breakfast area. There are many types of breakfast, especially fruits.

The swimming pool was cold, there was no toothpaste , no electric kettle in the room, no complimentary water, the room was outdated, the shower was very old and difficult to use, in all honesty this hotel room was a 2 star at best. The reception area was indeed a 5 star and that was it.

This hotel is generally ok. But some staff needs training as I had very hard time to program my room key, which receptionist fails to do so 3 times during check in which was really annoying as I arrived to hotel after very long flight.

I was 6 days in this hotel. I booked a total of 2 weeks with half board and I am more than thrilled. Very friendly staff at the reception both in the dining room and in the spa. Were were on group walking holiday with a company. We got rooms on the first floor facing road. Noise was increased by scraping furniture on rooms above etc Receptionist was dour & disinterested. Hotel corridors with a very old appearance, rooms equipped with very old furniture, the meals served (except breakfast) are only of quality on dates served, the hotel does not have free parking. Breakfast is quality, the indoor pool has a pleasant atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff ready to help.

Located about 5km from the centre but easily accessible by local bus. Airport bus stop directly outside hotel. Decent breakfast. Rooms a little old and some rooms smell musty. Feels a bit like a package holiday hotel but reasonable value for money. First time I’ve ever seen a hotel place an extra charge for using an in-room safe.

Great location in the heart of Old Town. Super convenient. Very mixed experience with staff - some we just simply rude. Majority were unfriendly. It is also worth noting, we're in our mid 50's and we seemed to easily be the youngest guests there by a couple of decades! We've just returned from a lovely 10 day stay at the Madeira Gardens hotel. An absolutely excellent stay and we would thoroughly recommend staying here. You are about 30 minutes walk out of Funchal centre in the Lido area so be aware of that and it's not a flat walk in or back to the hotel so if you've got mobility issues you might be using the bus that stops right outside the hotel or use taxi's...

First thing to say is, i feel harsh giving it a 4/5 review, as we had an excellent holiday. The staff are amazing, this was probably the highlight of the hotel. Zamir, Natasha and Gee were excellent. Room is spacious with balcony. Outside the hotel, there are public buses going to Funchal center. It's also located in the shopping area with restaurants and supermarkets. You can sit at rooftop to have a sea view. Breakfast buffet is good. Airport is less than half hour on taxi.
