Centar Forever in Belgrade

Beware! They seem to have problems processing US credit cards - I booked a room and they kept asking for another credit card again and again. Eventually they cancelled the booking just 2 days before my stay! No messages from the bank which means no attempted transactions. I hope no fraudulent charges are going to appear on those credit cards after they had access to their data.

Stayed for a Friday night in April to enjoy the area before flying out the next day. Upon arrival it took a few minutes to find the entrance because it was hard to believe that an ominous dimly lit and dirty stairwell would actually lead to a hotel. Up the stairs there was a door that lead to the actual hotel. While things appeared modern and look good in photos, the poor quality of everything is apparent in person. The toilet leaked when flushed and made the entire bathroom floor wet as the water made its way to the drain (the leak was from the outlet not the clean water inlet). The location was great to spend time downtown and we took advantage to spend as little time as possible in the room. The following morning we spent a couple hours out before returning to get our bags and head to the airport. The building had lost power and we couldn’t get into the outer door to the hotel (guests are given a pass code to get in after hours when not staffed). We pressed the help buzzer many times and could hear it going off on the front desk but apparently the business isn’t staffed at 10:00 on a Saturday morning. Luckily, we were able to get in 20 minutes later when another guest happened to be leaving.

While the downtown location was good, I would not recommend Centar Forever to anyone and have no idea how this place has so many good reviews. Do yourself the favor and spend slightly more to stay anywhere else in the area.
