Reviews
Room design is quite old, it’s okay but sound isolation is awfully bad.
Good for a night or two cheap stay.
This trip to Seoul was for G-Dragon's concert. The warmth and comfort I felt upon arriving at the hotel made the entire journey extra special. Transportation from the airport to the hotel was also very convenient, with almost no travel stress.
The room was clean, warm, and comfortable, and the heating warmed up quickly. Even though it was cold outside, I could immediately relax as soon as I returned to the room. The staff were as friendly as ever, and both check-in and check-out were very smooth. Having staff who spoke Chinese was particularly helpful for any inquiries, adding an extra layer of reassurance to the trip.
One thing I especially liked was the travel information posters thoughtfully displayed in the elevator for guests. Details about nearby restaurants, Cheonggyecheon Stream, Gwanghwamun, and other attractions, as well as transportation methods, were clearly marked, saving a lot of time in planning my itinerary. Getting to the G-Dragon concert venue was also easy by subway, making the entire trip more relaxed.
The hotel's location is excellent. It's within walking distance to Jonggak, Gwanghwamun, and Cheonggyecheon Stream, and it's convenient to get to Gyeongbokgung Palace either by walking or subway, making it ideal for exploring Seoul's city center. I happened to catch the Seoul Winter Festival (starting December 6th), and the lights of Cheonggyecheon, the end-of-year street decorations, and the winter markets filled the entire trip with a festive spirit. Strolling along Cheonggyecheon in the evening and taking winter-themed photos at DDP were some of the most relaxing and therapeutic moments of this trip.
The hotel's first floor has convenient facilities such as a laundry room and vending machines. What surprised me most was being able to personally experience the 'Han River instant noodles' often seen in K-dramas, which added a lot of fun and small joys to the trip.
Overall, my stay experience was very satisfying again:
✔ A hotel I've returned to multiple times and worth revisiting.
✔ The lobby has a strong end-of-year and winter festive atmosphere.
✔ Room was warm, clean, and comfortable.
✔ Thoughtful travel information posters in the elevator.
✔ Located in the heart of Jongno, within walking distance to popular attractions.
✔ Convenient transportation to Gyeongbokgung Palace / Gwanghwamun / Cheonggyecheon Stream.
✔ The lights and festive atmosphere of the Seoul Winter Festival were a bonus.
✔ The Han River instant noodles, vending machines, and laundry room on the first floor were very thoughtful amenities.
✔ Convenient transportation from the airport to the hotel, with Chinese-speaking staff assistance, and easy access to the concert venue by subway.
Even though it was my third stay, I still felt a little reluctant to check out.
If you're planning to visit Seoul in winter or around the end of the year, or coming for a concert, I highly recommend this hotel.
A Christmas & New Year Story from an Aussie Traveler
I arrived in Korea just before Christmas, trading Australia’s summer holiday season for the cold, glowing winter streets of Seoul. The moment I stepped into The Designers Hotel in Jongno, soft carols and small Christmas decorations welcomed me, making it clear that I would be spending the holidays somewhere completely new.
Outside, Seoul shimmered with tiny trees in café windows, warm street lights, and a crisp winter breeze. As I planned where to spend the New Year’s countdown, I explored DDP’s dazzling lights and the lively Dongdaemun streets, but Bosingak kept calling to me. Its blend of history, year-end calmness, and lingering Christmas atmosphere made it feel like the perfect place to greet the new year.
Back at the hotel, my plans unexpectedly changed. I had booked only one night, but the staff were so warm and kind—asking about my first Korean winter and even offering directions to Bosingak—that it felt like receiving small Christmas gifts. Their sincerity, especially during the busy holiday season, left a real impression.
My room was cozy, quiet, and spotless, with crisp white linens that felt like part of the winter scenery. After walking through cold night streets filled with Christmas decorations, sinking into the warm bed felt comforting, almost like living here rather than traveling. The washing machines and dryers in the lobby were another huge bonus, especially with thick winter clothes piling up.
Jongno itself added to the charm. Outside the hotel were winter streets filled with coffee aromas, traces of Christmas decorations, and easy access to Seosulla-gil, Hipjiro, and Bosingak. Walking to the bell pavilion through this seasonal atmosphere became one of my favorite parts of the trip.
What was meant to be a one-night stay naturally extended into more. The kindness of the staff, the peaceful room, the winter mood of Jongno, and the chance to spend both Christmas and New Year in Korea made the hotel feel like the perfect base for the season.
Overall:
The Designers Hotel Jongno isn’t about luxury—it’s about warmth, comfort, and genuine hospitality. Between my first Korean Christmas and the ringing of Bosingak’s New Year bell, this hotel became a place where I made winter memories I’ll always remember.
it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Seoul.
I first discovered the area on TikTok — people kept talking about “Hipjiro,” the nickname locals use for Euljiro, famous for its trendy bars, cozy cafés, and hidden alley spots —
and I’m so glad I chose to stay nearby.
The location was perfect. It was easy to reach Gyeongbokgung Palace, Insadong,
Myeongdong, and Dongdaemun by subway or bus, and several traditional markets were just a short walk away.
My room was spotless and modern. The bed was super comfortable with fresh, soft linens — perfect after a long day of exploring.
Everything felt clean and well-maintained, and I really appreciated having a safe in the room to store my valuables.
The lobby offered thoughtful amenities — a currency exchange machine, a luggage scale, and even free laundry facilities, which made my stay so convenient.
There was also a 24-hour snack corner, so I could grab a quick bite or drink anytime, even late at night.
Those small touches truly made a big difference and showed how much the hotel cares about its guests.
What really stood out to me was how everything just worked — no stress, no hassle, just pure comfort.
I honestly didn’t expect to love this place as much as I did, but it completely exceeded my expectations in every way.
I’m already planning to come back — this hotel will definitely be my go-to spot whenever I visit Seoul!
From the moment I stepped into the hotel, I was enveloped in a radiant glow of 'design + warmth'. This isn't just a place to stay for a night; it's a space where you want to take extra photos and slowly savor every corner.
😊 Super Attentive Staff Service
First, I have to praise the staff here! Whether I was walking in with my luggage or curiously looking around in the hallway, they always greeted me with a warm smile.
One time, I forgot my charger and was foolishly looking for an outlet in my room. They immediately said, “Wait a moment, I’ll find you a spare cable.” Their speed made me feel truly pampered.
They are not only professional but also very personable, patiently answering questions and offering advice. The overall service made me very happy.
✨ Room Cleanliness & Comfort
The room was as clean as if it had just come out of a washing machine. I checked every part of the bedding, towels, and curtains (hehe, reviewer's instinct)—no obvious stains, no hair, and no strange odors.
The room layout was cozy yet stylish, with enough windows for natural light. In the evening, drawing the curtains created a tranquil atmosphere with soft lighting.
I also liked the bathroom: stable hot water, comfortable showering (at least I enjoyed it thoroughly), and complete basic amenities. While not the ultra-luxurious setup of a five-star hotel, it's more than enough to meet most travelers' expectations.
Overall, the room gave me a feeling of 'warmth and small moments of happiness', and I felt very secure staying there.
🚴♀️ Free Bicycles! This is fantastic!
Yes, one of the most thoughtful highlights of this hotel: they offer FREE bicycle rental service!
Imagine: in the morning or evening, hopping on a bike from the hotel, slowly cycling through alleys, along Cheonggyecheon Stream, stopping anytime to take photos of the street or explore shops—is there a more自由方式 to travel? I cheered internally many times.
The bike rental process was also straightforward. The staff gave me route suggestions (“this way to Insa-dong, that way to Bukchon”). Exploring the surroundings on foot—or on wheels!—was simply delightful.

🎈 Conclusion & Tips for Future Travelers
Demacia! I genuinely had such a wonderful stay here—though it might sound exaggerated, there were truly many moments that made me think, “Wow, this stay is worth writing home about!”
However, to ensure your trip goes smoothly, here are a few tips:
* Rent bicycles early: As quantities might be limited, it's best to rent them in the morning or early evening when it gets crowded.
* Check parking policy: Although the hotel offers parking service, it appears to be paid parking (around 20,000 KRW/night) according to information.
* Be mindful of hallway noise at night: Some guests reported that soundproofing isn't perfect, and faint footsteps from upstairs or next door might be heard.
* Don't expect every room to be the same: A characteristic of design hotels is that 'each room may have a different style and layout,' so photos might vary from the actual room.
* Start early for evening area exploration: While the night view is beautiful, some alleys or shops close early at night, so it's more convenient to explore during the day.
Finally, I give Hotel The Designers Jongno a hearty recommendation score: in my heart, it's at least a 4.5 / 5-star standard. I hope when you stay here, you can also experience that feeling of 'surprise + relaxation + joy'.
The hotel’s amenities were thoughtful and useful. On the first floor, there was free ice, and the coffee was delicious. There was also a luggage scale and a vending machine selling portable batteries — very handy when your devices run low. Best of all, they offer free bike rentals, and since the weather was amazing, riding along Cheonggyecheon and exploring the city by bike became a truly special and unforgettable experience. Because of that, I definitely want to come back!
The staff were very friendly, and communication was smooth every step of the way. The room was spotless and cleaned daily, and the TV was large with free Netflix access, which was perfect for relaxing in the evenings. The bedding was comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep every night.
One thing I loved is how many restaurants and cafes are around — though it was a “good problem” deciding where to eat, since everything I tried was tasty. There were still places I couldn’t try, which left me wanting more.
All in all, this hotel offered comfort, convenience, and warm service. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Seoul — highly recommended!
