Born Barcelona Hostel in Barcelona

This was an excellent choice for my first hostel stay. I booked a private room (shared bathrooms) and the room was very nice with a little seating area, soft mattresses, and a door out to the veranda.

One con was that because it's a small hostel, it was not staffed 24 hours a day. This resulted in someone turning the common room with the TV into a private bedroom for themselves rather than sleeping in the bed they booked. This meant I could not use that room to relax when I returned to the hostel in the evening.

The other con for me was that people were smoking cigarettes on the veranda, which seemed to be allowed, so I couldn't leave my door to said veranda open to enjoy the fresh, cool, nighttime air. In addition to not personally liking cigarette smell, I worried that the smell would come in my room and I would get accused of smoking in my room.

There is a 2 euro fee for each towel which I was not a fan of. I did find that this was listed on their website. Maybe this is normal? Wanted to mention it here for more transparency. Free wifi worked great.

They said we could check in early but that didn't mean we could use our room early. Just a bit of a communication breakdown. It was nice to be able to drop our bags, use the bathrooms, and relax for a few minutes before heading back out.

It was otherwise a nice stay and I would stay here again if I find myself in Barcelona again during the MWC Barcelona tech conference that resulted in ALL of the Marriott affiliated hotels to be sold out (MWC takes place the first week of March every year in Barcelona). Whoops!

Octavio is the best. The people who stay and work here are so friendly. The bathrooms are clean! The location makes for gorgeous, life-changing walks. However, Octavio’s service was so amazing I booked another night because of it. I would stay here again

The stay at Born Barcelona Hostel was amazingly awesome. The only private room, so do book early. The location in Le Born area is surprisingly full of eateries, shops and close to one train station Arc De Triomf. In fact we were surprised there’s lots of chinese food option, Spanish tapas places and a big Chinese super market just opposite.
The hostel is located in an old building. Don't worry there’s a lift. Interior is very clean, well-maintained and friendly staff! Well equipped kitchen, nicely decorated common area. Plenty of super clean bathrooms!
Central AC , our room tend to get hot after a well in the night, maybe it’s controlled.
Overall still a great place to stay!

Initially I was confused about finding the hostel once i got into the building, but the correct lift button is marked BBH, and the intercom button at the front door to the building is also marked BBH. The location of this small hostel was great! It was in a less expensive part of the city so coffee and a croisant were very affordable, compared to a few blocks away. The hostel is on the edge of the old city and only a few blocks from the aerobus to the airport. The metro station is also close to the hostel. The hostel was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, etc. Including coffee machine, hot water machine, tea selection. There were adequate bathrooms and showers for all hostel guests. I never had to wait. There was one washer and dryer available, the washer was 1:15 minutes, but the dryer was okay, and there were also hanging racks in the laundry room. The in room lockers were fairly tall, wide, and deep. I had no trouble storing all my luggage in the locker. The hostel itself was very quiet, but I enjoyed the sound of revelry drifting up from the nearby bar on the street.

This hostel offers unbeatable value for money, the rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly, and the location is ideal, 250 m from a metro station and in the heart of the city. Everything is absolutely perfect. Tea, coffee, and wifi are free.
