Hotel Arco de Mazarelos in Santiago de Compostela

although the staff is kind, hygiene is a problem in this hotel. the cushions had white and brown stains on the sheets. don’t book the small room because you will hear absolutely everything that happens in the hall, even whispering. it’s extremely noisy, we did not sleep.
a year ago we had the biggest room and did not have that problem with noise. but the hygiene was a problem in that room too. they now have very loud keypads to get in your room instead of a key or card, which makes a lot of noise and is so unnecessary. I will not book here again primarily because of the hygiene issues of the beds, cushions, sheets and airvents. also my phone couldn’t charge because only one of the outlets worked and two lights were damaged.

Do not believe the photos posted on their website (except the front of the hotel) or in their printed brochure, they must have employed a really good photographer or Photoshop tech. Its true to say that the location in very central, but there are loads of other choices you should look in to. The Reception (an old desk with an old PC) is unmanned. There are no lifts, so you have to carry your luggage up a winding staircase, where the once red carpet, now seriously worn is tacked down, so please don't trip. The rooms are small, and therefore have small bathrooms. The rooms are also DAMP, very damp, so don't leave your luggage open, otherwise your other clothes will get humid. Just like the bedsheets and blankets. The under table heater doesn't help, at all, neither do the questionable electric sockets. If you own an iPad, your screen will be bigger than the TV provided. Our key opened the street door, as well as our friends room, and also other doors. BEWARE.
