Lovely comfortable room. Good room service and fabulous breakfast.
No hairdryer in room. Check in delayed for nearly half an hour because room hadn’t been cleaned by 2pm.

A super-clean and well maintained colonial hotel, breakfast and diner- buffets were really good,cleaning staff were very friendly, but restaurant and reception staff could be more more service minded. The whole hotel is not well lighted.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, it's just like stepping back in time to enjoy the Colonial period. All the staff were welcoming and courteous. The breakfast and evening buffet were very good. Great location too.

We recently stayed at Galle Face Hotel, Colombo with my family. Overall, the hotel experience was good, especially the location and service. However, the rooms feel overly traditional and colonial, which does not fully meet modern-day requirements. The heavy wooden furniture and old-fashioned, posh décor may appeal to older patrons who appreciate classic heritage styles, but it may not suit travelers looking for a more contemporary stay. The electrical points and facilities are also quite outdated and not convenient for today’s laptop- and gadget-dependent travelers. I would suggest that the hotel consider modernizing some rooms and amenities, while still preserving a few heritage-style rooms for guests who prefer the traditional experiences.

We stayed two nights and had a very nice stay. Location, room and staff were excellent. The only gripe was getting woken up at 3am on the morning of 31st December to workers setting up the hotel’s outdoor New Year’s Eve event. Crazy that someone thought that was okay to do.

Immaculately observed, including the lowering of the Sri Lankan flag every day at 6pm, accompanied by a Scottish bagpiper!!
Excellent location, close to the city centre but just enough away, right be the sea, in front of the iconic Galle Face Green.
The pool is sourced from the sea water all the time. Good size, good facilities. Clean. Sunset views exceptional.
Food available in several locations in the hotel, including the popular, much talked about buffet breakfast and bar food. Prices reflect the maintenance of traditional cuisine in a the modern world…
But not as expensive as other modern hotels nearby, eg the Kingsbury.
Highly recommended.
We were here in the run up to Christmas 2025. The decorations will put many Christian countries to shame!.😁
They obliged us with a late check out.

Hotel is very historically number one hotel in Sri Lanka. I love the beach and garden view. Food is excellent choice. Staff everyone is very courteous and well organise and presentable. All staff are consistently helpful. I love ambient of the hotel.
