International Beach Hotel and Restaurant in Hikkaduwa

Poor bedding, no hot water and intermittent WiFi

The check in was bit confusing; I put my name on the list, got a key and was shown to our room. No information was given about breakfast, wifi, hotel services.. There was also no info on the room. So the arrival wasnt very welcoming. However the room was quite nice, spacious and colorful. Ac worked fine. The hotel is right on the beach with plenty of sunbeds. The location is good, around are a lot of restaurants and bars.

We stayed for 4 days. The hotel is located on the 1st coast. The room was economy on the first floor, new air conditioning. Comfortable bed. Everything else is very modest. But in the evening you can sit outside, in front of the room. There is no WiFi in the room at all.
The hotel has a cafe Drunken Monkey. A good continental breakfast for 1700 rupees. If you do not want to overeat, then you can take it for one. You can also have lunch and dinner there. But the cuisine is not the best, but the view of the ocean. There in the cafe you can ask for the password for WiFi. It reaches the terrace in front of the room. Across the road from the hotel is a small supermarket. There is everything you need.
Separately about the beach - wide, cool sand, they teach surfing. People from other hotels come. The sun loungers are modest, but free for those staying at the hotel. In any case, they did not charge us. In the evening, there is some kind of movement along the entire coast, somewhere a disco, somewhere live music. You can find something to your taste.
Cons: there is a road behind the hotel, you can hear it well.
Also, hotel guests park their cars in front of the room.
Cons: it is cheap and you can find company.
