Hotel Alpenruhe - Vintage Design Hotel in Wengen

Older hotel, but well kept. Amazing staff. My favorite location in the world

The most popular hotel in Wengen is probably Regina, but I saw reviews saying the facilities were too old, so I carefully selected this relatively less-known one.

The hotel is located at the highest point of the town, offering a tranquil and secluded atmosphere. Having luggage is no problem; you can call the hotel to arrange a pick-up when the train departs Lauterbrunnen. English is sufficient for communication. You'll see the hotel's car after the train arrives! However, the car can only seat four people (they also provide a drop-off service after check-out).

I booked a room with a balcony, which was very comfortable! However, due to the trees, the view of the valley wasn't panoramic. Because the balconies are connected, you can hear conversations in other rooms.

The room was a bit small but very clean. The bathroom, however, was really tiny; a slightly larger person turning around in the shower would definitely have the curtain stick to them.

The hotel only provides breakfast, not lunch or dinner, but the breakfast is really good. You won't need to eat lunch after breakfast. You can ask the staff for fried eggs or scrambled eggs, which are freshly made. The Ovaltine sauce with bread is incredibly delicious!

We love the property. Perfect view from our balcony. Bathroom is a little bit small but overall staying is wonderful.

Had a great stay. Breakfast was good and we were picked up and dropped off at the train station by the staff which was convenient. The room had a great view when the weather was nice.

We adored our 6 night stay here. The staff are welcoming, and so helpful. The small touches like a welcome drink, branded items, the honesty bar, walking poles, umbrellas, and blankets help to create such an easy and lovely atmosphere for guests. The interior design of the hotel is outstanding… every tiny item has clearly been sourced to be in keeping with their vintage 20th century feel. Breakfast was amazing; the breads, cheese, etc were high quality and fresh, along with all the items. The option of cooked eggs each morning was perfect. We had a panoramic balcony room and though the room is small, the view is absolutely unbelievable. Without a doubt the best view from a hotel room I’ve ever had. We are already talking about our next trip.

Great hotel with very helpful staff. Breakfast was wonderful and location couldn’t be any better. A minor inconvenience was no refrigerator in room.

This is a wonderful hotel -- a stylish simplicity with stunning views from the balcony and a lovely lawn to contemplate the grandeur of the alps. Staff could not have been nicer - delicious breakfast -- a perfect base to explore.

I love how everything was clean and everyone is very nice. Both staff and people in the town. I highly recommend staying here for sightseeing and calm walks.

Nice staff, friendly and accommodating. The room so small I bumped my knees several times. I’m also tall, lol. The bed/mattress and pillows were uncomfortable I’m left me with a neck and shoulder ache for days; I’m a side sleeper. Great view though! Oh and no soy milk, had to bring my own. They have oat milk if you’re lactose intolerant.
