As the name suggests, this homestay is a splendid natural getaway that offers a very tranquil and picturesque environment. Located alongside a river, you have a direct overview of the calm waters, and dense vibrant mangroves.

As you spend your days here, you’ll watch as the tide slowly raises and lowers the water level around the buildings. Kayaks are offered for free, along with other swimmings devices, so you can calmly ponder the waters. Kayaking down stream for about 10 minutes will lead you to a beach and the ocean. There are no fast currents and it’s an easy paddle.

Breakfast is offered for free, and you can pay food all day until 8pm. There is an assortment of meal options, as well as some non-Asian options.

Unfortunately their service only provides AC from 7pm to 7am in rooms, so you’ll have a smooth sleep but during the days it’ll be best to spend your time in the water. The rooms themself have a unique appearance, being an old wooden design, don’t expect any fancy appliances (including hair dryer)

If you’re looking for a bit of peace, this is a good place to come.

Stayed here in January with my family including my 9 month old baby and really loved it. The rooms are well designed, the staff all so nice, the river and mangroves are beautiful. The whole place felt really homely.

Set in a mangrove swamp, it has a beautiful charming character, super laid back and tranquil atmosphere. Pretty much as you expect on this chilled island.

Some of the best food I’ve had on this trip to Thailand. All seafood super fresh and cooked to perfection…They even cooked our catch after a successful fishing trip.

Pros
• This place has one of the best restaurants we’ve tried on the island, with extremely fresh ingredients and excellent flavors.
• Most of the staff are very friendly and welcoming.
• Located next to a canal with free kayaking services, which was a fun activity.
• Some rooms offer a good view of the canal.

Cons
• No air conditioning during the day. Also the room was a bit small and primal, so I don’t think the facility or location worth the money
• Mobile network speed is only about 10 Mbps with limited signal.
• While the nearby beach is beautiful, it’s quite small. The location is also very remote, so a bike is necessary to get around.
• The manager told us checkout was at 11 am after we mentioned moving to another place, even though Agoda states it’s at 12 pm. When I confirmed, she impatiently said she’d make it 12 pm “for us,” accompanied by an odd look. During checkout, she only gave us a perfunctory smile.

Bann Makok is a truly inspiring place. The setup on the river in the Mangroves makes this an unique experience on Koh Kood. The architecture, simple yet charming with great care for detail, has a colonial touch to it. Kayaks and SUP are free to use for guests and kayaking to the outstanding nearby beaches is fun. Staff is kind and helpful, only the manager (not owner) could be a little warmer and more polite with her guests. Food at the Restaurant is a little pricier, yet you enjoy a private river terrace, again very atmospheric. Overall good value for money regarding the Restaurant. I liked the quiet at night that set me for sound sleep. I wouldn’t understand the negative reviews with regards to noise disturbance by the very few motorized boats passing by; and please bear in mind, Koh Kood fortunately still has an authentic community life and as tourists we should feel and show some gratitude and respect that we are welcome on this very special island. The boats are from local communities. And me being someone really appreciating quiet - I didn’t find the boats annoying at all.

Great place to relax. Stay for two three nights and you will find a place made of love with great food and stunning cocktails. When you come all the way to Ko Kut dont miss this place. We loved it also because it is such a unique and special experience after all those (top) typical Beach Resorts. Good luck Bann Makok team and keep the positive spirit!

😁: the place lies near a small clear river, full of fish, moving with the tide, in the middle of mangroves. The hotel is tastfully furnitured. It is nice to lie on the terrace and look at the river. 😖: there was a very bad smell around our room and the area next to it as mentioned in many other comments. This might stem from the muddy ground but also from the toilets. Especially when the air condition is not on, this is difficult to bare. Officially air condition is on from 7:00pm to 7:00 am otherwise the room offers only a fan which does not manage to clear the air. Two nights the air condition didnt work at all. Without air condition only with a small fan it is very difficult to spend time in the room during the day, it smells and is really hot. The room itself is dark, very weak electric light, I had to read with the torch of my mobile phone, small windows with curtains. These curtains are necessary as the back of the room seems to function as an area for garbage deposit , stray dogs , their feces … this is also the entry area of the hotel. To get towels you have to ask the receptionist, it is not enough to put the dirty towels on the floor. The dirty ones are removed, but new towels are not provided Restaurant: the breakfast ( included ) is very poor. Some flakes, yoghurt, ready made juices, some fruits. You can order eggs in different forms. This would be alright, for a cheap hotel, but not for this price. Restaurant food is just ok, you can eat at many places much better, for example at shanta resort. Breakfast at mermaid cafe, which we discovered during our trip, is really great, everything homemade with bowls and croissant, homemade jam etc, Personal: except the man looking for the boats and one waiter in the restaurant the employees are arrogant and unfriendly . Especially the lady at the reception who seem to be in charge of the hotel is arrogant and passive aggressive. When you ask something, she gives you the feeling that you did something wrong or that it is too much work for her. Very unfriendly, very untypical for thailand. We stayed for 8 days in bann makok, we will certainly not return.

+ magical and quiet place. Kayak free. Eco concept. Nice breakfast included. Pleasant staff who listen to you. - dirty surroundings, really too bad. Exaggerated restaurant prices. Be careful, air conditioning from 7 p.m. and check out 11:30 a.m. instead of 12 p.m. on the website.

Did not stay here...but saw a few of the rooms today preseason because we are on our sailboat...came to this bay and wandered in on the staff prepping this resort for opening day in a few days (for the season). It looked very clean ,very personalized....and very homey! The staff was very freindly. I have my boat to live on but by the tine I left I was already dreaming up a special occassion to come there for a night or two. As close to living in the jungle as you can get...but still be comfortable and pampered! I would recommend this resort for anyone who wants something a little out of the ordinary, relaxing, a place to hang out at, drink coffee, take a long lunch, or even a long bath...at least one of their roons has a big tub! Or read a book, walk to a waterfall or town(steep!), rebt a motorbike to see the islandm..but still a very easy walk or paddle to a beautiful beach.

Lovely place. Here and there a few little things in the resort to recover, but all in view a beautiful place on earth. The quietness is so great...
