Description

El Mouradi Djerba Menzel is a large 4-star hotel built in 1971 and renovated in 1998, offering 636 rooms across a main 3-floor building and ten 2-floor Menzel cottages. The hotel occupies 33,000 m2 and features a private sandy beach just 20 meters away with free sun loungers, umbrellas, and mattresses. It caters to guests seeking a quiet beach experience, honeymooners, and seniors, as well as business travelers using its five conference halls accommodating up to 600 people. With four restaurants, including two a la carte, nine bars, and three pools (one indoor heated in winter, two outdoor including one with seawater), the hotel provides diverse dining and leisure options. Sports facilities include nine tennis courts, a mini-golf area, and water sports such as windsurfing and diving. Kids benefit from dedicated facilities including a mini-club, nanny services (paid), and playground. Guests can also access a thalassotherapy center and beauty salon, with additional paid amenities like a fitness center, sauna, and horse riding. Wi-Fi is free in the lobby; other internet services are chargeable.

Between September 24th and October 1st, 2025, we stayed at this hotel, and our impressions were, to put it mildly, terrible.
The service at the hotel and in the restaurant was decent, and the staff was very polite. The rooms, as well as the rest of the hotel, look nothing like the photos, but that wasn’t a big issue.

By the third day, someone had stolen our hotel beach towels, which were rented with a deposit. What’s next — someone stealing us too?
The hotel’s general manager told us that this was “the risk of the deposit,” which was very unprofessional. Meanwhile, the travel agency representative, Mrs. Simona Radojković, actually suggested that we steal towels from someone else, just as ours were stolen (apparently that’s considered normal).

We did receive great assistance from Jelena, a representative of the Sunline agency, who was in Belgrade at the time and whom we managed to contact despite poor internet connection — all praise goes to her. That’s what true professionalism looks like.

In the end, the hotel director offered us a special dinner, even though we had all-inclusive service, and to refund our full deposit — but only on the condition that we sign a paper promising not to post a negative review about the hotel.

In short, we felt unsafe during the entire stay, and we spent the whole vacation without towels. Overall, this hotel is to be avoided.

Good stuff great location beautiful place breakfast was good food

Absolutely atrocious hotel which ruined our entire trip.I don’t even know where to begin. My main concern was the lack of maintenance and hygiene in this hotel, with the poor service and attitude from staff just made the entire stay bitter. To be honest this entire island was not what it seemed online whatsoever, as someone who really enjoys diving into new cultures and busy markets, I don’t look for luxury at all when I’m travelling and go everywhere with an open mind and low expectations, but there was nothing on this island, everything is very based on tourist excursions like quad biking and horse riding. Not many restaurants or takeaways at all, but regardless of that, our hotel was supposed to be the main attraction for us as we looked for a resort with a pool etc that we were planning on spending most of our time in.

To summarise: this hotel stinks and the rooms are mouldy, broken and unmaintained, the bathroom tap is covered in limescale and the curtains covered in mould . lt doesn't even have any wifi, basic necessities like toilet roll in the rooms, disgusting and very backdated and unmaintained, staff are rude and unhelpful and there is no system for anything. Everything being sold on here is a complete lie, nothing looks as it does online.

The entire place stinks inside rooms and outside. The beach is a tiny strip of sand covered in mounds of seaweed so that’s not even an enjoyable experience either.

This hotel ruined our entire experience and I honestly wish I could refund my time and money wasted here. I would’ve rather not went on any holiday at all. I will never ever be using love holidays for future holidays and couldn’t recommend you do not book this holiday enough. This island itself hasn’t got much to do and is very unmaintained and boring, despite that I found many fun excursions to keep myself busy with but ultimately just wasted money. I’m thankful for my ability to have experienced this island and thankful to the few people outside the hotel that made our stay a bit better but I wish somebody had told me that this island lacks a lot of basic necessities and culture rather than making it seem like a beautiful busy island. If you’re considering Djerba I highly recommend staying in Tunisia and doing 1-2 days in Djerba and visiting flamingo island (although there are literally no flamingos on the island it’s a pretty island) but if you do that DO NOT book this hotel whatsoever!!! Stick to a Radisson Bleu or something else well known and 5* if this is what they consider 4*!! Should definitely be a 2*

The hotel is beautiful and spacious and has all the amenities, but the reception staff were not up to work, and the waiters in the restaurant worked in a chaotic manner. To get a clean table, you have to run after the waiter and beg him to clean the table. Also, finding a fork and napkin is very tiring work

All the staff at the beach bar and beach restaurant are wonderful and kind. Almost everyone from the animation team is also amazing, especially Fyras, who is polite, funny, and simply perfect.

On the downside, the gym was dirty, and there were quite a few animals (dogs and cats) around the hotel. They are very friendly, but unfortunately hungry. Considering the amount of food that goes to waste, it would be very humane if a part of it was given to them.

Catastrophic, mostly awful staff, bad food, lacking, no variety, regular hot water cuts, avoid, reserved for local customers

This hotel is the worst!!! First, the restaurant - the tables, they are not cleaned, they are very sticky and dirty even after the waiter came and cleaned it. The food doesn’t look good and also is not tasty at all. The stuff is rude. We have waited for 30 minutes for 2 pancakes and for a meatball. Second, everywhere is so dirty, around the hotel and inside the rooms. Needs a renovation!!! Many things are broken. The pools are also dirty all the time full of sand. The capacity of the hotel is very big but the food courts are not many and not big for so many people. They need more staff. After this trip I don’t have a good opinion for Tunisia and wouldn’t come back in the future.

The service was so-so, as you had to wait forever to check in, and they didn't do what they promised, like bringing something to your room. Cleanliness was okay, and the buffet was just a bit overcrowded. The location is quite remote.

Good stay, pleasant hotel, great swimming pool, beach nearby

Very disappointed by this supposedly 5-star hotel. I stayed there to welcome a friend from Morocco, expecting to show him one of the best hotels in Djerba... Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.

From the moment we arrived, the welcome was cold and unprofessional. The room was in a deplorable state: a strong odor coming from the toilets, broken air conditioning, burned-out light bulbs, rusty faucets, a broken television, no mini-fridge, dirty towels with hairs, and hairs on the floor. The general maintenance was clearly neglected, unworthy of a hotel that claims to have such a high standard.

The only positive point: the well-maintained pool. However, even there, the service left something to be desired. The waiters were very attentive to the women, but when a man asked for something, the response was curt: "The bar is over there."

We therefore decided to leave the hotel before the end of our stay. A real disappointment. This hotel in no way deserves its 5-star rating, and should be avoided.
