Tui Magic Life Penelope Beach in Midoun

There February 2026 I personally would avoid this hotel in the winter month’s especially if you have children… We booked the Tui Magic Life Penelope…having browsed for somewhere to take three of our Grandchildren for a weeks break…based on entertainments and facilities available…when visiting the Tui outlet to settle the final payment,we were informed the water park may not be open…( it wasn’t) .. On arrival we were given our keys ( 2 rooms) the rooms were filthy & ant infested, phoned reception to inform them, not long after a cleaner with ant spray arrived sprayed the room and left…the rooms still filthy…straight down to reception..after a little conversation were given two different rooms…on entering cleanish, nothing in fridge ( bottled water, etc) …beds were rock hard but! No ants. We went three days before the rooms were cleaned, and only then when my wife went to reception who eventually to ask if the rooms would be cleaned ( ever) the reception it’s looked at something,said the maid had ticked to say the rooms had been cleaned. Having solved that problem ..the FOOD… In our group of five…there were two COELIACS ( autoimmune DISEASE) one of which is lactose intolerant, and one with nut allergy..we tried everything to explain, and ask which foods contained gluten, lactose and nuts…we approached the main chef who appeared to Care more about taking photos of the food he’d presented ( for a competition entered and pics for promoting the hotels cuisine) ..than solving the dietary needs of the guest ( all of which had been emailed to hotel prior to our visit) …even with the 10 kg welfare bag the two Coeliacs went 7 days eating rice ( when not covered in butter) and meat when not covered in butter, the nut allergy was a little easier to deal with. We attended the Arabic lesson to get tutor to write down the dietary needs on paper, but made little or no difference….to the two none coeliacs, nut allergy guest the food was cold even though on hot plates…good selection but cold… Entertainment Great entertainment team of an evening , very professional…and put on some great shows..a real gem in a bunch of zirconia’s Leisure The place was empty so no waiting times for tennis,archery,darts,etc…the indoor pool for 6 days, with a massive sign saying ‘swim at own risk’ no problem no one there staff, inmates etc ..the kids loved it…on the seventh day an inspection of whole site, suddenly the sign disappeared and a life guard in a smart red and white track suit appeared..pool empty apart from our 10/11 year olds…life guard …’ dont shout make loud noises jumping in prohibited ..’ where was he for the first 6 days?…rule are rules but only when an inspection is taking place. So to sum up our visit, apart from the cleanliness of the rooms, no cleaners, no food, for three of the five, ignorant chef/ s, rock hard beds, over zealous life guard ( 2 in pool) oh no kettle in rooms, we had a good holiday. We love Tunisia, and would go back to Djerba in a flas

Horrible bedding. Too hard. Drafty hotel. Repetitive and cold food, had to be reheated in the microwave.
