Fist of all if you enjoy nature and hiking prepare to have your socks knocked off by the endless opportunities to find a mountaintop! This cave hotel is in a nice location, far enough away from the crowds that you will have peace and quiet for sleeping and close enough that you can easily walk in to town. But don’t worry about anything, if the location is too far to walk your hosts will get you where you need to go! No matter what you’re looking for-leather goods, souvenirs or carpets, you’ll get the best and most for your money with Hasan as your guide. In the morning you will get an amazing, homemade breakfast made from fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection. Theres even an array of homemade goods for purchase at the hotel that you can grab as family and friend gifs. The rooms are very clean and the area is extremely safe. I absolutely love the host family. You will be treated like family when you stay here!

Hotel is located at a side of a hill, so shuttle or taxis wont park at the front, you must walk 100mts to get there. The town has just a few options of restaurants and shops. You have to take a taxi to go around, it is easy to get it and not expensive. Uber works. Staff is really gentle and rooms are big, you will really live the turkish culture.

Abu Hayat Cave Suites is a boutique cave hotel that has luxury rooms for accommodation. We had reserved a cave suite for 3 (triple sharing) through our contact in Cappadocia based upon his recommendation. I had tried to narrow down the search for a cave hotel in Cappadocia among the 100s of options available online and it is a daunting task for any visitor who has little firsthand information of this amazing place. Having compared the prices available online and the rate I was being offered by my contact for the 4 nights stay, I agreed to go with his suggestion and got the room confirmed for my family of 3. I, of course, had researched about these cave suites and checked out the pics and reviews extensively online, but there’s always a sliver of doubt and apprehension in the mind whether the choice would turn out to be right in the end. Not having to pay any advance for the booking was of importance to me at that time as our trip was hanging in balance due to some reasons. I was also trusting this travel agent with a few more bookings, none of which I’d to pay for in advance. We reached Cappadocia airport in Nevsehir after 7 pm (flight was delayed by an hour or so) and were soon on our way to Ortahisar by shuttle bus (available from outside the terminal exit) which I’d reserved online (again, without payment). The drive through the towns of Cappadocia was for about 1 hour and it was past sunset when we reached Ortahisar. The shuttle dropped us off at a corner, which was secluded and with no sight of the hotel nearby, it was a bit worrisome. Thankfully my contact arrived within a few minutes after I called him and helped us navigate the path to the hotel with our luggage. A sweet lady welcomed us inside the hotel and gave us a quick tour of the property before leaving. It was almost 9 pm and we were quite tired from our 24 hours travel so didn’t stay back in the room to unpack, but instead headed back in to Ortahisar town with our contact to grab dinner. On the way back, we began to understand our bearings. The hotel is a little downhill from the main town square but not too far away. It usually took us less than 10 minutes to reach the town. The hotel is not reachable by a car, so one has to make an effort to carry the bags up to the property, but it should not be considered a big issue as there would be someone available in the hotel to lend a helping hand. If one needs to park their car, it can be done nearby on the side of the roads. Our cave suite was built on three levels. It was exactly as seen in the pics online. There was a small wooden staircase leading to the main level where a queen size bed, a couple of sofa chairs and a small cupboard were part of the furniture. The bathroom and toilet were on this level too. Basic toiletries with bath and hand towels, cloth slippers, tea, coffee, milk powder, and an electric kettle were provided. Bottled water was also kept in the room and was readily replaced. The entrance level had some cushi

Fatma was a lovely host. She was helpful and always cheery. The breakfasts were nice Turkish style breakfasts (al fresco) which was nice. The hotel was small with 7 individual rooms. We were in the Sultan suite which was very interesting and tastefully decorated. It was lovely to stay in a cave type hotel room which had been modernised. We stayed in June and didn't need AC at all. The cave room temperature stayed pretty constant and therefore it was slightly chilly at night and we definitely needed the blanket that had been supplied.
The area around the hotel in Ortahisar was very quiet and peaceful compared to the very touristy hustle and bustle of Goreme. There were some reasonable restaurants in the area and we enjoyed the local coffee shop and the castle.
Some suggestions to improve the room would include attention to the hot water (we would have to run the tap for a good few minutes before getting warm/hot water). In addition the seating area of the 'balcony' through the patio doors could be improved and made more comfortable. Also more towels, some bathrobes and a fridge would be useful. Also the door lock was quite difficult to use unless applying a lot of force to push the door while turning the key. An electric heater is needed for the evenings.
Despite all of this, we had a lovely few days at Abu Hayat Cave Suites and have fond memories.

The lodging accommodations at Ab-u Hayat Caves is simply incredible. From the time of your arrival and greeting by Fatma and her entire family and staff, including Ayse, Hatice, Hasan and Besir you feel like you have become a part of their family. Upon arrival by car, they showed us where we could park for free, took our bags and spoke to us like we were long lost relatives. Entering the property is a mind blowing experience. They have converted their home into a space for roughly 7 rooms, each one more impressive then the next. The views of Pigeon Valley were incredible and afforded easy access to walk through it which made for great early (5am) walks. In addition, you could easily see hot air balloons from the terrace or take a short walk into town or other vantage points to see them. The breakfasts at A-bu Hayat were amazing. Fatma and her team make an incredible assortment of foods for breakfast, with different main stays each day. There were all of their home made jams which you could simply eat without bread (Pear, Apricot, Blueberry, Strawberry, etc.), cheeses, fresh fruit, pancakes, eggs, on and on. There is simply nothing left out in the way of design considerations for the rooms or the lodging space. There is no pool here but you don't need one - you should be out and about exploring. I could have easily stayed here for a week just to enjoy the place. Everything was within easy driving distances from this lodging. Furthest point we drove to was in the Green Valley - about 45 minutes away. I wondered into other lodging accommodations both in the area we were in and others throughout Cappadocia - you won't find something nicer then this place with the ambiance and warmth of the owners. STAY HERE!!!!!

This is the kind of place that I really don’t want to tell people about, but at the same time I want to rave about how wonderful it is. The choice of cave hotels is overwhelming, but I somehow stumbled onto this hotel and was so happy I did. They don’t have direct booking on their website, but if you email they will assist you and send videos of the various rooms available. Fatma and her family have created a beautiful hotel tucked away in the back of the town. Our room was the Sultan Suite, and it was amazing. The workmanship was beautiful, and attention was paid to all the little details. The room was quite spacious with two sitting areas, a king size bed and ample room for a rollaway to be brought in. The only minor issue is that you will need to run the shower for a bit to get hot water, but we were told this when taken to our room the first day. It is easy walking distance to many restaurants and shops. They also have menus available for some of the restaurants for delivery. My daughter took advantage of this one evening as she was not feeling up to coming out with us for dinner. They called the restaurant for her and brought the food directly to the room. The traditional Turkish breakfast is a highlight. All of the food was excellent, and we found out later that they make all of the jams and spreads themselves. Just when you think there would be no more food, another plate would come! We ate so much that most days we did not want to eat lunch. By the time we left, we felt like part of the family. Fatma was a lovely hostess and was happy to chat about anything, asking us about our days in Cappadocia, how we found the hotel, and just general conversation about life. The other family members were not quite as chatty, but all were friendly and so very helpful. It is clear that this is a family affair and one that they love to do.

One of the best holidays. The owners were always helpful, organized the ballon flight and the trips. From the first seconds it was like home. Should we go on holiday there again, there is only one dress. Thanks for everything.
