Rixos Sungate - the Land of Legends Access in Beldibi

I didn't like it, it was expensive and the rooms were very old. There were a lot of people.

First and biggest problem is LACK OF SAFETY. Next to our room door, there was open and dangerous meter cabinet. It was dark and deep. It was extremely dangerous not only for our baby but also any other small kid in Hotel. When we warn cleaner about that, answer was it is not my responsibility. Hotel also has many idle section (eg: restaurant in ground floor of main building) and unfortunately access is not restricted. So also another dangerous place for kids.

Second biggest disappointment was "WATER CUT OFF". You should not experience water cut off for the hotel that you are paying hundreds of euro for a day. Overall cleanliness was also problematic but that is not surprise by considering even there is no water in the rooms.

INACCESSIBiLITY is also huge issue in hotel. Hotel is really huge and on the paper it has variety of services. But in reality they are very far from each other and thus you rarely be able to use them. As an example, Hotel has good coffee corner (Costa Cafe) but it is almost one km away from kids section (Rixy kids club). So we had to walk half an hour to get good coffee. This is one example but it can be multiplied.
Finally Hotel is really crowded. You do not feel it during the day since area is huge. But in common areas (restaurants, pool bar, animation area) you lost in crowd and have to wait really long queues for the service.

OVERALL Rixos Sungate far from justifying its price. It was not my worst hotel experience if you put price aside. But by looking PRICE/PERFORMANCE ratio, it is WORST hotel experience ever.

My overall impression of the hotel is mixed. Some staff members tried to help, but many issues were not resolved: the bathroom light fixture was broken, the toilet lock was loose, and the elevator call button did not work. The room was not fully cleaned upon check-in. During the first three days, I spent a lot of time constantly contacting the reception to have these issues addressed. The air conditioner initially blew air at +20 °C, then +16 °C instead of the expected +5…+10 °C, and the vents were dusty, so the room cooled very slowly. Relocation to another room was not possible, and the food selection was limited and monotonous. After the airline lost my suitcases, I expected more support from the hotel, and for the first time in my life, I had to file a formal complaint with the tour operator.

It seems that if you haven’t experienced other hotels, you might enjoy it; however, even in cheaper hotels I have stayed in, there was more entertainment, interactive activities, and variety in the food.

I also compared room cleaning with and without leaving a €5 tip. Without a tip, the cleaning was very poor; with a tip, it was slightly better (at least the bed was properly made), but still far from satisfactory. For example, a simple test of picking up a piece of paper from the floor failed, and the toilet did not appear to be cleaned at all.

The situation with sunbeds is very similar to other hotels – although there are plenty of signs saying that reserving sunbeds is not allowed, towels are constantly left unattended. Sometimes staff remove them, but this happens rarely and usually only around 5 p.m.

To be objective, I would also like to mention some positives: the hotel grounds are large, the kids’ club is interesting with different workshops, and the alcohol served here is genuine, not cheap local substitutes (for example, Aperol is really Aperol, and the selection includes Jack Daniels, Black Label, Jägermeister, etc.). The Marine Pool & Bar had the best bartenders, and overall it is one of the few stylish and comfortable locations in the hotel. Reception staff member Yana was highly professional and always tried to help instead of simply directing me elsewhere.

Avoid. Aged property. One buffet location for three thousand people. Not an appealing eating environment. One snack location for entire facility with limited options. Except Tepenyaki and Bloom, other alacarte restaurants are quite poor on service and food quality.

Very good staff though.
