Reviews
We are a family of three (two adults and a 15-year-old “man-child”) and experienced issues from the very first evening we arrived.
We were initially allocated a room in the main building, where the “air conditioning” system was explained to us. It turns out it isn’t actually air conditioning but a central heating system set to one temperature throughout the hotel. This meant our room was extremely hot and uncomfortable, with no way of adjusting it. The room was also prepared for only two guests instead of three, so we were short on towels, glasses, and drinks.
When we raised this at reception, we were given fans — which did little to help. After a sleepless night, we spoke to the receptionist again and were moved to a room in the Residence building. This room had an independent air conditioning system that worked properly, was quickly set up for three people, and was overall a much nicer place to stay.
We hadn’t realised that this was the end of the season (our fault for not checking), but it really showed — both in terms of service and what was available. We were disappointed to find that all the à la carte restaurants were closed. While we accept we should have checked, we still feel that if the hotel is open, has paying guests, and is charging premium rates, these facilities should be available.
The buffet restaurant was well below what you’d expect from a 5-star establishment. Tables were often uncleared or not set, the glassware and crockery were frequently dirty or cracked, and the coffee machines showed “cleaning required” messages for most of our stay (seven out of nine days). The food was generally poor — lukewarm, lacking variety, and often dry and tasteless.
Service was another major disappointment. I’ve never stayed in a supposed 5-star hotel where so many staff seemed so disinterested in guests or their work. We often waited a long time for drinks while staff were chatting amongst themselves, on their phones, or simply absent. By mid-afternoon at the pool, our small table would be piled with empty cups, and even when staff came by with a trolley, they’d collect one or two cups and move on, never to return. It wasn’t about expecting people to clean up after us — it was the lack of basic service and attention to detail that stood out.
Similarly, I’d advise against ordering cocktails — they were often sloppily made, served in dirty glasses, and handed over without care.
We raised all these issues with management during our stay (and we have video evidence) as we were genuinely unhappy. They offered us a massage and a beach pavilion, which we declined, as that didn’t address any of the core issues. We also contacted our travel rep and Seven Seas about moving hotels, but despite multiple follow-ups, this didn’t happen.
Would I recommend this hotel? Not in a million years.
Everything was clean, from our room to the restaurant to the pool areas. The room was good and big enough for the four of us. AC was working well and was able to cool the room quickly. Food was good and there was some variety during our 10-day stay. There was always a choice of different meats, vegetables, pastries, fish prepared in western style and always accompanied by some local dishes for people to try out. The most amazing thing for us was the selection of food for kids. There was an entire section with 6-10 different dishes which was appropriate for our 1 year old. They even had baby food in little jars (the one you can buy at supermarkets or pharmacies) so we were worry free. Waiters always brought clean baby seats with bibs and baby wipes.
There are three different pool areas, which were all good. We used the kids' pool area most. There are three different pools there, three big slides and two baby slides. The smallest baby pool was under a sail shade, so we could use it even when the sun was too hot. Pool temperatures were between 26 and 30 degrees so they were really comfortable to use, even for our kids.
Kids' pools are located in a wider area designed for children. There are outdoor and indoor playgrounds in that area. Both of those were great and provided some variety of activities for our kids. The indoor playground is especially good and well-equipped. There are options for you to leave older kids there (older than 4 I think) and animators have different activities with them throughout the day. Also in this area is the theater, where we went for some shows and mini disco almost every night. The shows were too late in the evening so they aren't suited for kids that go to bed early. We were worried about parties keeping us up at night as we read that this is a common problem in Turkey. This wasn't the case here. There were parties, but they would end by midnight, I think, and they were not near the main building, and we couldn't hear anything with our windows closed.
The beach was very clean. No smoking allowed. There are different areas reserved for adults (18+) and people with small kids, which is great. The beach is sandy in the upper part, but when you come near water and into it, it becomes rocky. It is not the most pleasant thing going into water, as your legs can get bashed with these rocks. This is basically the only negative of this place for us. The water at the beach was crystal clear and clean, but a bit cold for the kids. (we were there in the second half of June)
Staff were great. All the customer facing staff spoke English well enough. They were all very pleasant and attentive. They weren't pushy to sell us anything or asking for tips. They were just doing their job and doing it well.
The hotel complex is also very beautiful with lots of green areas where kids can run and play. It is also surrounded by pine forests, so the temperatures are really pleasant.
All in all, when we return to Kemer, we're not looking any further than this place. It is AMAZING!
