Econo Inn in Anchorage

Seems to be under renovation. Our room did have new flooring and some new paint but not complete. No shower curtain. Portable AC unit meant we couldn't close the window so street noise was excessive. Advertised airport shuttle but that wasn't available. Very overpriced.

I booked this hotel through *******, so thought that it would be reasonable. I have never been to a worse place that uses the term ‘Hotel’. Inside and outside were lots of people who sadly have drug, alcohol or mental health issues. There were people inside screaming, and the place reeked of pot. The woman behind the thick glass window at the reception desk tried to ignore me. I asked her if it was safe to stay there, and she said that it was as long as I stayed in my room. I have not felt that unsafe in a long time. I could not imagine staying there under any circumstances, and luckily was able to making a booking at a far better hotel nearby. I cancelled the booking, but unfortunately lost the deposit that I had paid. I will be contacting ******* to tell them that they should not be listing this place. It is not fit for anyone to stay at, but at least provides accommodation for socially marginalized people. DO NOT CONSIDER STAYING HERE AS IT IS DISGRACEFUL.

This lodging establishment is very low budget. There are a lot of signs posted: no visitors in rooms after 10 pm, we count everything in the room if anything is missing it will be charged to your account. It felt sketchy, but we felt safe. If you need an inexpensive place to stay, this will do. If you have higher standards, there's a Sheraton in walking distance. There are not many restaurants or stores in the area. We had to ride share to Walmart, but there was a convenience store in walking distance. We ate at the Sheraton one evening, but the highlight was the restaurant at the Inn - Da Mi Japanese Restaurant. Yum! Even if you don't stay at the Inn, you must try this place if you find yourself in Anchorage, Alaska.

The picture shown is the attached restaurant not the hotel. The Econo Inn in Anchorage, Alaska is the worst hotel I never even sayed in. We called to see if it would be possible to check in early. The answer was no and that was ok. Our room would be ready at 3pm. We showed up at 4pm. There were people standing around smoking outside and a man sitting on a chair waiting on the inside. I waited about 7 minutes then one of the women who was smoking outside came into the office. She never said she was sorry. I was informed that our room was not yet ready. There is a man in there cleaning it if we wanted to wait outside. On the way to the room there was trash everywhere on the floors. See picture of the main hallway. We waited and waited. A man finally came out and said the room was done. We opened the door and the room had not been cleaned and it smelled heavily of rubbing alcohol. It did not look like a clean sanitary room by any means. The smell lingered. It was 5:45 when we were let into our room. We marched right back down stairs to say that we could not stay there. The smell was overwhelming and we weren't sure how clean it was. We were expecting my husbands mother to spend one night in a room here. That would not be acceptable for anybody. They let us cancel the remaining nights but did charge us for the one night. There were numerous times we went to the front desk while waiting for our room. The lady was always outside smoking. She didn't seem to care at all that she had one or more customers waiting for assistance at the front desk. We reseved rooms for 3 nights. We also had a reservation for mother in-law the 3rd night. We called several times a day for several days before we got someone to answer the phone so that we could cancel her reservation ahead of time. Not only was there a lack of cleanliness, there was a complete lack of caring by the lady at the front desk. She was too busy going out for her smoking breaks to help customers standing in line or to answer the phone.

This is the most disgusting place I've ever stayed at. Our plane reservations were changed so we had to arrive a day early in order to catch our connecting flight on time. Looking for an inexpensive place to stay the night. Found this online and booked. We had no car and used their shuttle service. The photos were not available to us or we would NOT have gone there. Moldy shower, towel and TP holder torn off the walls, light bulbs missing, couldn't close window so it was noisy all night long. And the list goes on. If we would have had a car, we would have left within minutes of arriving. STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Do not stay here ! Should be torn down. Stinky from when you walk in front door. Carpets in general area haven't be upgraded OR cleaned since early 2000s. Rooms are dated, mismatched furniture, NO maintenance, as you can see in the pictures. Now the staff was pleasant and knew their jobs. Continental breakfast muffins, hard boiled eggs, coffee and yogurt, however, no place you woukd want to sit down and eat !
