El Portal Sedona Hotel

This is a wonderful luxury hotel and the owners are fantastic. The grounds and rooms are intimate, stunning and peaceful. The breakfast options are great...especially the omelets! In 2011, owner Steve approached my fiancee and I as we were looking for a wedding location. To our surprise he went above and beyond in recommending locations, caterers, florists, and the equipment rental company. In 2012, we had our friends and family celebrate with us on his ranch in Oak Creek Canyon. A great memory for all of us - Thank you! Splurge once in your life and spend a long weekend here!

Everything about this hotel was magical. It's like stepping back in time to a 1920s lodge (with all the modern conveniences) nestled amongst the trees. You are truly treated as a guest here by the staff. Immaculately clean rooms and a fantasic array of snacks/beverages both complimentary as well as for purchase, at reasonable prices. A gorgeous flagstone courtyard with a nightly fire pit adds to the charm. The owners and staff offered helpful tips on where to eat/visit. This place was truly relaxing,whimsical, and unique.

In early Oct. we stayed several nights at the El Portal in Sedona. And, since we'd be traveling with our dog, we did lots of research to find a place that not only welcomed dogs, but a place that would be really easy to stay at with a dog. From all aspects, the El Portal is a great property. We are seasoned travelers (and so is our dog) and the next time we're in Sedona, we'll be staying at the El Portal.

Full disclosure: Our amazing, lovely, wouldn't-hurt-an-ant-if-it-bit-in-the-nose doggie is a handful; Loud. Anxious. Yet, we never felt like we were an intrusion on any of the other people staying there, or the caretakers of the hotel. We received recommendations on where to walk with our little boy, and we were met with nothing but patience and care from our hotel runners. This is saying nothing about the room, the location, the complimentary this-that-and the other, grounds, etc. I am so grateful that we felt so welcome for our dog's first real vacation that I can do nothing but hyper-focus on this fact alone. Thank you, El Portal, for making it a non-factor. I hope no one complained about us (our little Schnauzer, Shelby) and we would love to come back soon.

A sanctuary!! After 2 weeks of traveling it was nice to finish our Griswold vacation at a tranquil place. The staff was very accommodating, the room was immaculate and the food and beverage offerings in The Great Room were a nice touch. They are a pet friendly resort but you cannot leave your pets in the room when you go out exploring. You either have to take them or hire a pet sitter to stay in the room with them. It was 105 degrees while we were there so taking our dogs with us while we walked and explored was not possible. We ended up boarding our dogs at Bark N Purr which was a wonderful boarding facility.
I’ve read previous reviews that mentioned the back door of a guest’s room not locking. That must’ve been the same room we were in because our back door would not lock. The deadbolt was jammed. Other than that, everything was wonderful, relaxing and fun. The Secret Garden is a great spot for breakfast and Rene’s is fabulous for dinner.

My wife and I have stayed here 4 times in the last three years. This has become our favorite place to stay in Sedona. You feel you are out in the country when you stay here, but in reality you are in right in the middle of Sedona. You area few hundred feet from the best shopping area in town. The landscaping in the courtyard area is enchanting. Our favorite thing is after a day of shopping or hiking, is to unwind next to their fire pit, drink a glass of wine, and meet the other guests whom come here from all over the world. The breakfast here is awesome, highly recommend the omelet. Every room is different and all of them are very romantic and charming.

Cozy chic rustic comfortable interior design. Authentic southwestern style. Fantastic hospitality. Amazing views of the distant mountains.

We've been coming to El Portal for many years. Very unique exclusive place. The place we you can fill like home.
