Nerita Garden- Sanibel Home in Sanibel

The location and amenities were really nice. It has a family friendly Margaritaville vibe. Everything in the resort was very clean and high quality. The service was not great though, housekeeping never came to our room in the 5 days we were there and there weren’t enough cleaning supplies to clean stuff ourselves. I bugged the front desk multiple times but no one ever came. There are biting bugs at night, but some people aren’t affected. I was bitten a TON but my family was fine. So that’s hit or miss. There’s a toddler cart for the bikes which is great. You can bike around the whole island. You can get Whole Foods delivery via Amazon to the condo. That was really helpful. And be sure to check your bill before we were charged an extra night and some random restaurant charges we never ordered.

The location is wonderful. The pricing doesn't reflect a true resort. This is basically a condo conglomerate that has a mixed base of use. There is no daily housekeeping, and they don't provide an ample supply of towels. They do not have phones in the units. So you have to call them for everything or text. Here's the glitch. They are very short staffed and things take forever, including getting through to the correct person. The unit we were in was very nice, but the water pressure was horrible in the shower, there were lightbulbs in the unit that were out, and we had to take care of our own trash. Had to call 5 times to make a dinner reservation and always went to voice mail. No one called us back. Had to keep trying. While the "resort" has nice amenities and is in a good location, if you're looking for luxury and pampering, this is not the place. It's more of a do it yourself place. There is no chairs or umbrellas for the units that are to the West and East. You have to walk to the main building. There Is also no drink or food service at any other pools other than the main building. For the price, you would at least expect to have the trash taken out and the towels changed. You also have to walk to the main pool for beach towels. There is no towel service anywhere else, and the property is large. We possibly will return, but there are other places on the island that have full hotel/resort services.

We rented a 3 bedroom which was very small and somewhat depressing. Furniture was pretty ugly and old fashion. The room was very dark considering we rented the most expensive room and was ocean front. We were under the impression that it was going to have a washer/dryer but only once we were there we were told not all units have washer/dyers and none were available at the time . We would not have stayed at this property if we had known that there was no washer/dryer. There was a laundry room on the third floor which was inconvenient. When we called to complain, we were informed that there were no other rooms that we could be moved to because the resort was fully booked. It did not appear to be fully booked. We left a message for the manager to call but he never did. In addition, it took two days to get additional towels and suppplies . I was told that the resort does not fully disclose this information unless you ask very specific questions. Not a way to run a resort. The pool area was very nice and my grandchildren had a great time with all the activities available to them. Not a place I would return to.
