This was our third time staying here. Rooms are nice. Location is great and everything was five stars. Highly recommend.

Being unfamiliar with Ft Myers’s Beach, I researched a 2 night stay carefully. The rates at Lani Kai were favorable, even though it is family owned, we took a chance. It is an older hotel, but has been updated since hurricane Ian. The glider swings on beach and rooftop levels were very nice to sit and enjoy a beverage. The beach is pristine and directly behind the hotel. We enjoyed an anniversary dinner at the sundeck restaurant Island View, and it was an amazing meal. We were both very satisfied. Our room was clean. We don’t travel much, this was a quick getaway and enjoyed it. Other than 2 days of torrential downpours, typical Florida Spring weather, we enjoyed our stay. 4 stars for facility because the tunnel to the beach is quite dark and the elevators could also be updated.

Pulling up to the facility I thought we had the wrong place! It was very well worn and more effort was put into the bldg size mural than the maintenance of the bldg. Staff was very nice. Upon arrival we were told they no longer had the type of room we booked so the upgraded us to a suite and gave us breakfast vouchers. Great, until we saw it. It was clean and roomy, but there were no electrical outlets on the walls nearest the bed in the bedroom. Not good for alarm clocks, CPAP machines, cell phones, etc. The only lights in the kitchen/living room were a small table lamp and the range good light. Unfortunately the weather a couple of days was windy and rainy. The windows let in so much air the blackout curtains were moving and the rain sounds like it was in the room. There was a 2" gap between the exterior door and the floor as well as the adjoining room door. Over all the best parts of our stay were the beach chairs you rent, the weather and leaving the Lani Kai. Definitely not worth the money!

If it's your first time to Fort Myers Beach be warned they charge for parking everywhere. Make sure you stay at a place within walking distance to everything. Here's the good about Lani Kai: The location! The beach! The views! Friendly service. That's enough that I might go back someday. The not so good: Very dated hotel. Not particularly clean. Weird smells here and there. Noisy neighbors. As long as you're there for the beach, the views, and the shops, bars and restaurants around town, it's a deal. If you're looking for an all inclusive "resort" feel then it's not so good.

Location location location, this hotel is on the softest sand beach I've been too in Florida. The water quality however is murky and greenish brownish. However many people seem to enjoy this beach, I for one enjoyed the sand. Also, it's a great place to visit low tide for seashells and tide pools! Hotel itself is okay, my room was decent and staff was friendly. Sun deck restaurant was amazing and those rocking tables are a new experience.

The rooms were very large and all facing the beach, the hallway elevator was noisy especially late at night, but our door was right there... I would ask to be away from the elevator.
3rd floor was about perfect for room privacy and noise reduction, and a palm tree was right in the middle of our view, which was very nice.
We ate at the restaurant/bar upstairs twice for breakfast, didn't much care for the swing table/chairs on the deck, and the place is old, so it wasn't the prettiest, but the food was good and reasonably priced.
We did not try the bar attached on the beach, or the finer restaurant upstairs because we really wanted to get out and see all we could.
If you are staying with children, note there are bars EVERYWHERE in this beach community and there will be noise and people cussing and some idiots, but the beach itself is a great environment for kids. Just don't complain about staying at a 'party' hotel if you don't want to partake!

Depending on season, Lani Kai can be packed with people on their private beach and in the 'open on the beach' bar. There is usually live entertainment and even beach game contests such as hulahooping, water balloon throwing to a partner to see which team can be the only team that didn't burst their balloon, karaoke, and more! Winner(s) win a drink from the bar! (The Rum Runners are fantastic, especially if you ask for a 'floater' which you pay for, but is worth trying!) Of course winner must be of age, if underage, an appropriate non-alcoholic drink is available. Always lots of fun whether you play or watch!! Food, snacks, wings, etc. can be ordered by waitstaff that walk around the beach area. Chairs with umbrellas are available for use for free if you're a guest or you've been ordering food and drinks. Makes for a fun day at the beach!

12/20/2014 Today at 1:48 pm visit this little restaurant called Chicago Dawg House located at 1207 Estero Blvd, Fort Myers BEA, to find quickly being harassed by its owner which from that since I started making my order he was rude, insensible, bratty and seem to be under the influence of drugs by the way they behaved. This white man about 35-40 years old who attacked me and my family making racist comments. Anyway I'm trying to take it as a joke in bad taste since my family and I we were just enjoying our free afternoon. But the last thing this man did was rob us. This man charging us for a few items then said he did not, which charge us some hot dogs and fries 35.00 dollars. besides all the humiliation. the worst restaurant I've visited in the area. and yes live that place and we could not enjoy our PAID food.

When we arrived to the hotel we were informed that the parking lot nearest to the facility was full and we need to park "across the street". We parked at a lot that appeared to be affiliated with the hotel/restaurant but later learned it wasn't.
We asked to speak to a manager about the parking situation and they brought us what looked to be a cook who insisted that we were in the wrong despite their parking attendant telling us to park where we did. We spent a considerable amount of money at the restaurant and felt like them validating our $20 worth parking was the least they could do. I wouldn't go back simply because of how we were treated after we had paid our bill and tipped well.

Smells disgusting as you leave the elevators to the rooftop restaurant. (I've tried this place many times and this is typical) People who work here are always confused. You have a 75% chance your bill will be correct View is awesome if you get the uncomfortable swing chairs. I love the location and if you park on site they give you a $10 voucher to use at the restaurant for food so I end up coming here a lot. Lani Kia is a big fun dive bar/hotel Usually live music somewhere. always fun and gets a bad rap. I wish they would clean up the smell at the entrance to the rooftop restaurant.

Best happy hour on the beach plus a fantastic view. Also has some great dinner deals. Don't judge this place because of the Lani Kai reputation. Restaurant is very good.

Those cream cheese filled dinner rolls with a plate of olive oil/herbs to dip them in, oh my gosh. The pasta is quite good too. The chefs actually know what spice is and will make you a mean (and very hot) spicy pasta if you order/ask for it. So many Italian restaurants look at you insulted if you ask them to spice up a dish for your spicy palate. Also, good ambiance and well-kept on top of a mediocre hotel.

Subway moved out of this location, CHEPE a new sandwich shop has opened at the same location......its top shelf and they only carry boars head meats. Attention to customers was great, food was very good.
