Signs around the hotel as well as increased valet parking due to construction -parking at this time was a nightmare and extremely expensive

The front attendant was spectacular checking us in as well as the valet! The whole place was clean and amazing to look through the halls of Union Station! Our rail chair was comfortable and really felt like staying in one. Some minor misses like a glass drink sat next to our door the whole time from a previous guest and the restaurant at dinner and breakfast was ice cold, but overall we enjoyed our stay!

We had a great time staying in the train car. The front desk clerk was so nice and helpful.

Historic Hotel, and if you ask, they will show you where the old portion of the train station is. Can see what the place looked like in the early 1900's. Very cool. Great staff. Room service was awesome. Would book again in a heart beat.

Wonderful experience overall! I remember staying at Union Station as a kid, and it's just as magical as I remember. Clean room, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful venue, and very well put-together breakfast. Definitely going to be visiting again in the future!

We stayed in a train car this time and it was so unique! Hotel was spotless clean, staff was nice and so fun, great with the kids, restaurant was delicious. This hotel has SO much cool train and rail history, it's really a hidden gem!
Only downsides: the Illinois ballroom and old station wasn't open because there weren't any events going on down there. Wish we could have seen that area again.
#2: be prepared if you stay in the blue train that a REAL train may come through in the middle of the night and scare you to death! Haha We didn't realize we were on the side closest to the active tracks. It was just once overnight and the kids slept right through it, but I guess it added to authentic railroad experience. 😂

The rooms was great the team was very patient with me. Courteous and pleasant and on point with everything.

Construction around the hotel made driving to and parking extremely hard. Valet was still $50 a night even with the added inconvenience.

I stayed at the Crowne Plaza 30+ times over the last seven years. We have also had a big customer conference held there with 150 participants.

First: The Grand Hall at Union Station is beautiful and makes for a great customer event center.

Second: the hotel is under an active train track, so about half of the rooms experience rumbling and shaking from the trains occasionally at all times of the day and night.

Third: I have stayed there because it is very close to my office, but also convenient to the main Indianapolis convention center and Colts Football stadium.

The rooms are a bit dark and aged, although still comfortable. The showers are standard. (I appreciate that IHG has gone to wall based soap, shampoo and conditioner in their hotels.)

I like the train car rooms better than the standard rooms, because they are long and thin. It allows for the TV seating area to feel a bit separate from the bed.

The breakfast is extra - so plan on an extra $20+ for breakfast, unless it is included with your rate,

The gym is small and only treadmills (3), ellipticals (3) and one bike. Just a rack of dumbbells up to 50 lbs and some exercise bands round out the full gym. Similar to holiday inns, but not up to the par of some of the larger and more prestigious brands.
Share your experiences, help others make the right choice!
Think about what you would like to know if you were looking for a review about a place to relax. Please describe in detail what you liked and what you didn't. What would you advise to other guests and to the hotel owner. The more fully you tell about the hotel, the easier it will be for other people to make a choice and they will be very grateful to you!

In the heart of downtown Indy, this place was very busy and still had decent service and very good food. The prices are a bit high as expected, but worth it for the tasty food. Large selection of alcohol drinks. Worth a try if you haven't eaten here you should try them. The salad tasted good too. Beer flights are available.

Have been here before and had great service, but tonight it was obvious the kitchen and staff were off their game. Took forever to get our beers too. Food took longer then average for how not busy the place was. Once we got our food my girlfriends food was burnt. The waiter offered here a free chocolate cake....just to find out they don't have any chocolate cake. Makes me think twice about coming again, when there are other options close by.

Great service and fantastic food! Personally didn’t have the beer but heard it was phenomenal.

Stumbled upon this place accidentally and man-oh-man, I am happy we did!! I LOVED the atmosphere. Tvs everywhere, nice setting, the staff were all friendly. The drinks could be a little bit stronger, but the food was absolutely delicious. I oredered the Zesty Chicken Salad and my boyfriend ordered the blackened chicken tacos. Both entrees were amazing!

My first time here, as I am in Indy for a convention. Great atmosphere. The Indian Blonde is their best beer by far. Very refreshing. Friendly service and good food. Blane was my server and he was very friendly and made good suggestions. The beer pretzels are excellent as well as the chicken sandwich. This is a great place for beer and good food.

Fun bar with a lively atmosphere. Went there before the big 10 championship. Awesome food. The sampler appetizer was a meal in itself! Delicious. Music was a touch too loud, but aimed at a younger crowd so we didn't mind. Service was good. Atmosphere was great!

It was okay. Not great. The front bouncer staff/I.D. checkers were a little over zealous to get people out of the way of the wait staff. I get it. People cannot constantly be in their way, however, we did not design the layout of the place. The entire kitchen staff must wade through a sea of humanity by the bar to get out to the table. Change that, not ride people's asses about being in the way!

This place has the best breadsticks hands down! Specially their specialty pepperoni ones. Their wings are also delicious. Half price drinks on Wednesdays! It does get pretty busy in the evenings but i always get good service!

A friend took me here. Its a great place. Has a nice sports bar atmosphere. The girls Ares dressed cute, but not slutt lime some if the places. So, you could take your family if you wanted.
They have a appetizer called pepperoni bread sticks, which is amazing, but has probably caused a few heart attacks.
I had the Brisket Dip, which was amazing. Make sure to get the tots. They will give you a pile no man or woman should eat.

Great atmosphere, good food, fantastic shots. Inside can be noisy, but we would often go there as a group and really enjoyed the patio during warm seasons. The inside was just fine as well. Service has always been good in my experience. A little classier then some of the market district joints but less snooty than some of the Mass Ave spots. So really... perfect!

Had a triple burger with pepper jack, tomato, pickles and lettuce. BEST 5$ burger in my life. And i have tried EVERYWHERE. Very good. Great prices. Cooked perfectly. Thankyou!

The place is a dump, its dirty, and I'd hate to see the kitchen area. Service is rude, slow, and unprofessional. My friend ordered a bowl of chili as a side, our food arrived but her side did not. When she asked the waitress she admitted to us that it didn't arrive because the staff didn't feel like preparing it. Steak n Shake in general is a great restaurant but the staff at this particular place brings down the quality.
13.11.2017 Nick
I'm one of six people here right now and there was no sugar at my table; the table I was sat down out by the hostess wasn't clean, so she came back and moved my stuff to wipe it down; she had to have me repeat my order of eggs, bacon, toast and coffee twice; and she forgot my water. The food wasn't very good, either, but that's just any Steak 'n Shake for you.

The Downtown Steak 'n Shake really is the worst I've been to in this city. They have a cop dividing customers between dine-in and carry-out most nights, since there aren't any employees capable of doing this(?) and they're very slow to take care of you at the register when you're ready to leave, and let THAT line get backed up. There are better diners nearby with a more interesting atmosphere, slightly better service and tastier food.

This location is fine if you need a bite to eat-- I mean, it's Steak 'n Shake-- but if you find yourself waiting at the end of a long line here on a busy weekend, just take the time to walk up to Olly's or something. You'll actually save time by going that far out of your way, believe it or not. This place is not worth the wait under ANY circumstance.
18.10.2017 Echo
Did a good job serving a huge crowd quickly. I went during a large event, so my experience may not be representative, but it wasn't terribly clean. Food tasted great.
30.08.2017 Wyatt
I came in at 2am because it's one of the few places open when I'm awake (overnights). I tried the new prime steakburger expecting it to be okay at best because it was busy and they had a normal 3-person skeleton crew. I don't think I've ever had a burger with lettuce as fresh and crunchy as that on a sandwich. Like, at 2am, I somehow got a burger that I honestly think is as good if not better than what I've been eating at five guys. The table service was not good, though. Still, I'm giving a 5/5 just for their grill guy still putting great care into a burger on a late night with a bit of a rush coming through.
