Fort Harrison State Park Inn in Indianapolis

We were looking at using the inn and nearby gazebo as a wedding venue. We stopped in to see if anyone was able to give us details and Eleni, the sales director, happened to be on shift. She was great to chat with and incredibly helpful. Although we went a different direction with our event, we’ll definitely come back for a stay because of her!

Fort Harrison State Park Inn is beautiful & historic. Room was very comfortable, clean, & quiet each night. Great continental breakfast each morning before a hike in the park. We give it a 5⭐️.

On our way to Arizona and spun out on 465 so we parked it, our 40ft motorhome had a whole lot to itself thankfully and stayed safe! We ended up staying here a lot longer than intended but so thankful for the staff for working with us and our kitty Stinky✨ we tend to leave stuff behind in rooms and they always made sure we got it back not once but twice from moving rooms so much! 😂 The breakfast is meh edible not the most enjoyable, shower was sick had all the nozzles you could dream of but I think that kills the hot water because the upstairs shower without them was HOT while the other one was lukewarm. The staff are so friendly we will definitely be coming back in summer when we can actually enjoy the park as well. This is a BEAUTIFUL hotel if your into the older style, I wish I could have fit the mirrors in my bag every single one of em😂

We were in Indianapolis on Dec 4th. We had to check in about 9 o’clock and were greeted by a very helpful young man. The room we were given was unbelievable. The entire room was perfect. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed. The breakfast was great. We will return if ever back in the area.

We stayed at the Kendall Inn (Fort Harrison State Park Inn) on our way from Virginia to Iowa. We love to stay at historic hotels and this one has lots of history. The Inn is in the Fort Harrison state park, which is the grounds of the former Fort Benjamin Harrison, an army fort that opened in 1906. The army fort was an infantry training group and housed prisoners of war during World War I. Then, it was a CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) camp between the two World Wars. During World War II, the fort reached its peak capacity, serving as the largest draft inductee and reception center in the US, processing millions of soldiers. During this time, the current inn continued to operate as a large army hospital (Billings General Hospital) and also housed prisoners of war. During the early 1950s, the building operated as the fort headquarters. The fort was closed in 1991, and the building was sold and operated as a private hotel before being purchased by the state of Indiana, which reopened it as the Fort Harrison Inn. Our room was very large, with a large ensuite bathroom, and a small sitting area. The furniture was perfect for the hotel as it was furnished with large wooden pieces, which fit in perfectly with the inn's history. The bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows, and the room had a small refrigerator, which also had a small freezer compartment, as well as a desk and chair. One of the elevators in the inn is interesting as it is narrow and long--perfect for a hospital stretcher. Breakfast was included and was your standard hotel fare--yogurt, a couple of hot entrees, muffins, etc., but it is served in a really nice breakfast room. Admission to the state park is included with your stay. The park includes 14 miles of hiking trails and seven miles of mountain biking trails. There are picnic areas, and a golf course (separate fees). There are also several other historic buildings from the army fort era in the state park. We would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend it to anyone passing through Indianapolis!!

We had a very nice stay at the inn. It is a 1 minute drive over to the state park where there are lovely trails and you get in free with your room key. Also close to restaurants. We ate in the Thai and Mexican restaurants and they were great. There’s also an ice cream place next to the Thai restaurant. The room was nice and big and clean with a big bathroom. The continental breakfast was simple but good.

WOW!! Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff! Rooms are amazing!!! The bathroom in my room.. with two rooms I miss it so much! With the park practically in the back yard, you won’t find a better place to stay in Indianapolis !
