River's Edge Hotel Portland, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Portland

I really want to keep this review short. I’ve always loved this hotel but my most recent visit definitely changed my mind.

I booked via Priceline a last minute trip for my business. (Permanent Makeup Artistry Workshop)

Everyone was “nice” but the undertone was certainly political. I paid for an upgraded king suite with a “view” (waited close to an hour) and received a room facing the street with a huge American Flag on the balcony (no view of the “Rivers Edge”)

The toilet was not working well either but I was already in my room so decided to stay. The staff that came to my room to clean was awkward as well. Like everyone was in on the “joke” of giving me a less than decent room with a view of valet parking. Then the toilet stopped working and I had to call the desk a couple times to “help” fix it. (The guy was extremely nice and helpful, we even had a polite conversation about how “divided” people can be)

I would say keep your political opinions to yourself and treat all guests equally, right? The “silent bullying” is a pretty lame approach especially when my direct family were all immigrants, so pushing a liberal or conservative narrative doesn’t look good for your operations. Please remain professional for your guests who are just passing through trying to enjoy their stay, for general business or to make a better life for their children and families.
