Newport Marriott Hotel & Spa in Newport

The water view that I paid extra for was terrible. I could see the water, a bit, but I was looking at the back of a building between the hotel and the water, and overlooking the hotel's service entrance and numerous garbage cans. The spa treatments I had booked were cancelled because staff called out sick, and the spa was the reason I chose that particular hotel, so I was very disappointed. Also, they had possibly the worst room service I've ever had. Shockingly bad quality and selection. The room was spotless, lovely, and cosy. The staff were wonderful and friendly.

Staff was pretty rude at check in and with some issues we had during the stay. Upon check in I accidentally gave my married name instead of my madian name which is what the account was under. Debbie, the lady at the desk was pretty condescending, she just kept saying I didn’t have a reservation and was not helpful at all. When we finally figured out the name issue, she was just weirdly short with me. The AC was broken in our room and the window was also broken so our room was stuck at 77 and we couldn’t open the window wide enough to get air in. First time we called they sent someone that came and got the window open 3 inches and told us that was the beat they could do. After not sleeping at all the first night we called again to ask if we could atleast move to a toom where the window could open. The lady on the phone was super sweet and offered to move us, but when I went to get the key the lady at the desk (Debbie, same lady that was super short with us at check in) was very short with me. I’m not sure if the lady I talked to on the phone just hadn’t communicated with Debbie, but when I tried to explain to her what was going on she was just kind of snappy and short with me. She kept telling me I was giving her the wrong room number (I think the other lady already changed the room number in the system) and repeatedly talked down to me. Also, charging for breakfast, wifi, and little things we forgot like razors made us feel nickle and dimed

Rooms were fine. Person checking me in had a negative attitude and was rude.
