Super 8 by Wyndham New Braunfels I-35 in New Braunfels

We booked a non-smoking room for one of the Wurstfest weekends. They insisted ******* booked a smoking room, but ******* assured they have the non-smoking room confirmation.

Turns out they tried hard to also get their smoking rooms rented out as another customer reported some phone call asking them if they’d be OK with a smoking room. After some fuss, lecturing us about better to book directly with the property and asking us to pay extra for our original booking, they “found” a room with two double beds rather than the king size we booked. So beware, not a trustworthy place!

The room itself was largely clean and the beds reasonably firm, but the small fridge on the floor had some bad dirt underneath when we accidentally moved it. Not cleaned in ages, looked like cockroach-droppings among the dust.

The bed was very hard, very uncomfortable. I couldn't sleep that night.

Room was dirty when we checked in. The staff was very rude and not at all welcoming. When we asked for another towel, they said they already provided 2 and they were out of towels. Their breakfast consisted of twinkies, chocolate cupcakes and stale fruit loops with expired milk. 100% would not recommend staying at this hotel!

So, my mother and I chose this location because the reviews I had read on ******* seemed to be overall good, especially for a summer weekend, the location, and the fact it was Fathers Day weekend. Every 5 steps we took in the room would turn the soles of our feet deep brown. The bottoms of my feet don't get even that stained and dirty walking outside at my home barefoot that quickly. Also, we had put the "do not disturb" sign on our door. We came back to find the vast majority of our room untouched except some fresh towels and soaps. We contacted the front desk after we discovered that the jewelry my mother had left on the bedside table was missing. The front desk said no one had gone into our room, so we got the New Braunfels police to the location. Upon review of the camera footage, ALL THREE housekeeping staff had gone into our room. Does it take 3 people to just bring in some towels and little soap bottles? Absolutely not, especially when the rest of the room was untouched. My mother's jewelry was stolen. She had made it known that she would not prosecute if the jewelry was returned, but none of the staff owned up to it. It was a true violation of privacy and theft. There was an absolutely bad and strong smell of jazz cabbage that permeated the halls. I don't care if someone wants to smoke, that's their personal choice, but I had my children with me. For whatever reason, there was a walmart shopping cart being used there as well.
