JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio

The hotel looked very nice, but we wouldn’t stay here again. The person who checked us in did a poor job at communicating to us how all the charge and services worked so it was very confusing for us. Also, we noticed that if you visit the hotel during non peak days or off season, you don’t get the same treatment. It’s like you get special treatment and perks if you’re there during the weekend/on season, but if you’re there on weekdays or off season, you don’t get all those same perks. We gave 3 stars because of the way the hotel looked and because the bar tender we met was very nice. Other than that, I would give 2 stars on the experience, the dining, etc.

The idea of the place is wonderful. I took my 3 granddaughters, 5, 3, and 1 here on a mini vacation. The good: the children’s pool and slides were wonderful for all 3. We spent a whole day there. There was plenty of seating around all the pools. There were several options for food including 3 eateries, and room service - all priced as expected. The room was comfortable and accessible. Room service and housekeeping staff were pleasant and kind. The staff on checkout were great!

The not so good - the two different women I dealt with at check in were flat out rude and have no business being in customer facing jobs. The self parking just sucks. Parking in sections 2 and 3 force you to walk up and down hill - with a family with wagons and strollers this not NOT convenient, not to mention that getting on the sidewalk while crossing the street was a challenge as there was no ramp access - meaning I had to literally lift the wagon with kids in it up onto the sidewalk while headed uphill - fun times. The family pool was constantly dirty. While I understand trees and such, have someone skim the pool.

While we had a pleasant time, there is definitely room for improvement especially given the cost.
