Folie Marine Beach Hotel & Club in Himare

I rarely write reviews, but this hotel left me no choice. Despite its 5-star label, the reality was shockingly below standard. The rooms were outdated, with furniture that looked like it hadn’t been replaced in decades. Worse still, many pieces were stained and worn, giving the space a neglected and unhygienic feel.

Housekeeping was practically nonexistent. For three consecutive days, the trash bins in the room remained full, untouched. A bottle of hotel-provided soap lay on the floor the entire time—completely ignored. It’s baffling how such basic cleanliness could be overlooked.

The breakfast buffet, supposedly available from 8:00 AM, was never ready on time. Each morning was a frustrating wait, with no explanation or apology. And to make matters more difficult, several staff members couldn’t communicate in English, which made even simple requests unnecessarily complicated.

This hotel failed to meet even the minimum expectations, let alone those of a luxury establishment. If you’re looking for comfort, professionalism, and basic hospitality, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

Terrible experience. I live in Florida and run AC 24/7 to avoid mold at home, yet at this hotel the AC only works when the key is in the room. This makes the room damp and prone to mold growth, which is unacceptable. The worst part? When I complained that the AC wasn’t working even with the key inserted, the hotel downgraded me to an even worse room—despite the hotel being half empty. Staff were unhelpful, and the whole place feels unsafe. I suffer from migraines, and the poor conditions described above, actually caused me to end up in the hospital after this stay. The health department should definitely close this hotel for inspection, because they are making people sick.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The staff, especially the female employees working at the beach area, were not professional at all. Their attitude was unfriendly and far from what you would expect in a hospitality setting. For a place that calls itself a tourist hotel, I believe the service should be much more respectful and professional. Unfortunately, this ruined part of my stay and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good service.

This hotel normally has a lot of potential for international guests, but unfortunately, the staff and service aren't even remotely comparable to other hotels in the world. Service is 1/10. Guests aren't treated equally here, so you automatically don't want to spend money. I waited three hours for a towel, but they always charge me immediately. It's a shame.
