We just left the hotel after a week of bliss. A very well managed hotel, with friendly staff. The food is splendid, so many choices at breakfast and dinner. We spent some time at the spa and swimming pool, after our ski mornings, very relaxing. Our room was at the top floor, with beautiful views and very spacious. We visit this hotel almost every year and it never disappoints. We love it, thanks for another great stay!

The Alpenkrone is a clean, smart, quiet hotel on the edge of Filzmoos. Food is excellent, and it has superb spa facilities

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. Upon check-in, I politely asked the manager if the room I was assigned—right next to the reception—was quiet. Instead of a professional response, I was met with an incredibly offensive and unacceptable remark. The manager claimed that the noisiest guests are Polish and even made a condescending comment about Poland’s history, referencing the Iron Curtain. This kind of discriminatory attitude is completely unacceptable, especially in the hospitality industry. Since the noise from the reception area was a real concern, I requested a room upgrade. The manager eventually moved me to a family room, but unfortunately, this was not an improvement. The room had visible wall fungus, which was completely unacceptable for a supposedly reputable hotel. The poor hygiene and lack of maintenance made my stay even more unpleasant.

While Austria often conjures images of breathtaking alpine views and snowy landscapes, this hotel is located at a relatively low altitude, resulting in average views and snow that doesn’t last long. The town itself pales in comparison to destinations like St. Moritz or Livigno. The hotel is outdated and in dire need of renovation. The rooms are small and dated, with poor cleanliness and uncomfortable beds. The pool is tiny, unattractive, and far from relaxing. Additionally, the service leaves much to be desired, some stuff members were not only unhelpful but even unfriendly. The atmosphere feels stuck in the 1970s, reminiscent of old Czech designs—not what one expects from an Austrian alpine hotel. Moreover, the location is inconvenient for skiing enthusiasts as it’s far from the slopes and lifts, requiring either a car or a bus ride to access them. For the price charged, the overall experience does not meet expectations. I would recommend looking elsewhere for a more enjoyable alpine holiday.

Some rooms have great views, but the staff doesn't offer them easily. Be sure to request an upper-floor room with a view, or you might end up like me—staring at the bottom of parked cars.Otherwise the spak is good and if you are lucky you can score a good room

Wonderful, traditional family run hotel by the very sociable owner Mr Hampshire. Our upgraded room (€70) as requested when booking the holiday was worth every penny and made the holiday extra special for a very quite room on the second floor, with a very large balcony and those amazing, beautiful views of the Filzmoos mountains and village. The quality and choice of food in the restaurant for all meals was outstanding. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful and a special mention to Zorana and Andrew who looked after us so well during our stay. The hiking in the Filzmoos mountains surrounding the hotel were exceptional, with excellent routes for all levels of walker, with the hikers bus available for the higher level mountain hikes which were all spectacular and some very challenging! Special thanks to Trish (Champagne Charlie) & Kay for great sociable evenings in very beautiful surroundings. A very special hotel & holiday.

Before I start I find it very strange no one has written a review since 2022, but possibly not many brits especially go here, not sure. So me & my husband decided to do a totally different holiday now our children have fled the nest so to speak & opted for a walking holiday in Austria. We have never been, so when this came up after a trip to the travel agent & some guidance on the area from a neighbour, we booked this hotel offered at the time. On arrival I thought we’d stepped back in time, having up until now done the child friendly beach holidays , but took in and went with it. We were greeted by a lady , not particularly that friendly, but being tired thought nothing of it. We were handed two keys , one was our room and for an extra €70 we could up grade to a different room, told to go and have a look at them both and decide, I mean the view was lovely for the extra money, but no €70 worth when we we were going to be out all day walking & the hotel had perfectly free garden terrace with the same view & it had a bathroom & beds the same as the original booked room, so we declined this one. Our original room was the only one I think in the hotel that didn’t have its own big balcony as such & id say possibly the worst room in the hotel, due to the location above the kitchen, but we were out all day & it was a very early shut down hotel at night, so no problem there, more the staff gathering before and after service below our window, but we were still high enough for it to be no issue. Showers in the bathroom are really good and very powerful. Points before I bore you too much: 1. No air con anywhere in the building or rooms, so gets very stuffy at night, as no window in our room & because outside main entrance, we couldn’t leave it over over night( room 102). 2. Not knowing this as not told at check in , you can request a kettle, so I’d definitely do this next time or take my own travel one, as no access to drinks once breakfast is finished. 3.Food, we were not told the procedure on check in, of once you sit down at breakfast, you have a set menu for your evening meal on a half board basis & you must pick your choice at breakfast for that evening. It was apparently on the info sheet given when we got our key, tired from trip we didn’t read it initially. Choices limited & eat that it go hungry basically! 4. Staff were not particularly friendly, I thought it was because their English speaking was limited , but not the case with others, we felt like we were an inconvenience at times, for whatever reason & we didn’t bother them or ask many questions, just turned up said hello etc and got on with, so not like we kept bothering them. We felt like we’d intruded on them & dare I say it, was it because were British & outnumbered by other nationalities, who knows! 5. Food choices, so everyone one, usually regardless of being a veggie or not & no evidence of catering for Vegans , but not sure on that as I’m not a vegan. Everyone had a starter

A small intimate family run hotel that is just incredible. Great rooms, incredible views, stunning food and simple beautiful hike to rival South America where I was before Austria. The owner Mr Hampshire is a real gentleman who has amazing story telling capabilities. Its breakfast was varied and huge. The dinner for a vegan fantastic selection. Highly recommend it

Nice hotel. However it is 100 m above the village. Quiet. Nice walks around. Views on the village and sun in the afternoon.
