A Perfect Family Winter Retreat at Hotel Thurnerhof

We recently spent our winter holiday at Hotel Thurnerhof and had a very positive experience. The hotel is well-managed and offers a great balance of comfort and convenience for skiers.

Dining:
The food throughout our stay was consistently good. We enjoyed a rich and varied breakfast each morning with plenty of quality options. The snack provided after skiing was a nice touch, and the five-course dinners were well-prepared, offering a good variety of meals that were always nicely presented.

Wellness and Skiing:
The logistics for skiing were very efficient. The hotel provides a reliable transfer service to and from the regional slopes, which saved us a lot of hassle. After a long day in the cold, the heated pool and saunas were excellent for relaxing and recovering from the physical effort.

Family Services:
The hotel is well-equipped for families. They have clear services in place for children, including separate play areas for both younger and older kids, which kept everyone occupied during the evenings. It’s a very practical choice for those traveling with children.

Staff:
A special thanks to the staff, who were consistently kind and helpful. They handled all our requests with care and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Overall, it was a ❤️ great choice for our 2026 ski trip, and we would certainly consider returning.

We spent a week at the hotel and were impressed by the dinner food versatility. Every day they surprised us with something new. The service was impeccable as well. Will highly recommend and I believe that I will come back.

Very nice hotel fitted out to a high standard. Full board option had good food selections and friendly wait staff. Rooms were on the smaller side but were well decorated and functional. Shuttle to the lift in the morning was regular. The hotel lacked communal space to socialise with others on the trip. It has a very small bar which is very dark and in the middle of the building (no windows to take advantage of the views) with maybe 6 small high tables. It needed a lounge or bigger bar where you could relax on vacation and had a window. There was nowhere really to relax outside of the room. The location is also on the edge of town. It is approx 20 min walk to the town so only book if you are comfortable with this. Saalbach is a nice town but I would probably stay closer next time with a hotel with an area to relax with others.

Located on a hill, this family hotel offers stunning views of the slopes and the town from its infinity pool and balcony terraces. The family and staff are very polite and responsive, creating a very warm atmosphere. The restaurant's food is delicious, varied, and always well-presented. The wine can even be recommended by the owner. Breakfast is very rich, and you can even try milk from the neighboring dairy farm😊 The wellness area, besides the pool, has separate areas for parents with children and for adults only. The rooms are stylishly and comfortably furnished. The hotel also offers a free shuttle, and the bus stop is nearby. We enjoyed a wonderful winter vacation.

Had a good long weekend stay at the Thurnerhof:
* Really nice location with good views
* Food is ok, but poor options for children (everyday the same unhealthy options for dinner, vegetables are available but deep frozen standard, afternoon snack is meat and cake mostly)
* Between the buffet and the dining room, there's a small shop with colorful, breakable, interesting items in easy reach for small children. Not very well thought through to put these items there.
* Receptionist made us feel like everything else is more important before and throughout the stay. We didn't feel valued as customers. That's a pity because everything else is in place to create an otherwise great experience.

Nice place. Nice views. Good food. Nice playground for kids, with enough toys. The swimming pool is very nice outside with a nice view and decent space to swim in it. In the interior on the other hand it is way too small so when it's cold outside the kids don't have enough place to play in the inside pool. The family apartment is big enough for 3 or 4 persons without any problems. Kitchen was also big enough and with basic household appliances, this is a big plus when you are traveling with small kids. The bathroom was a bit to small and cramped for such a big apartment, although well equipped. And if you are a tall person you have to be careful not to hit your head in the bathroom because of the inclined selling. So the bathroom was not extremely good. Another plus was the place inside where you can park the bikes and recharge batteries.
Overall a nice and pleasant experience. Looking forward to come back here again.

What a fantastic hotel with friendly staff , Rooms was clean and spacious , good size balcony with a view of the village 10/10 There was an abundance of food at breakfast, from the omelettes to herbal teas , cereals to smoked salmon , 10/10 Afternoon snacks was delicious The evening meal was another delight , 5 course of quality local produce 10/10 The Spa was a wonderful addition to the hotel with the outside pool, there was two spa areas , a adult and family section, 10/10 The hotel location is just outside the village which was ideal for us as it was nice and quite , the hotel has a shuttle bus to and from the village, 10/10

Thurnerhof is absolutely the hidden gem in Ski Circus Saalbach, Leogang, Fieberbrung, Vierhofen. We come to this place for many years already, but the owner definitely is on a mission with a clear vision: relaxing in a luxury setting. Over the years there were many improvements that started with the upgrade of the rooms. They have now done a completely restructure of the whole place. A relaxing area with sauna’s and even a infinity pool we’re added. Out of the pool area you have a clear view without any blockings over the slopes. If heaven exists on earth, this is heaven. After a nice breakfast including salmon and a glass of Prosecco, the free shuttle brings you to the lift of your choice. You are normally able to ski back to the hotel, but you are also allowed to grab a taxi in the village on cost of the hotel. Although the hotel is on walking distance of Saalbach center and ski busses are available this extra service is making your stay even more comfortable. With the new chef, dinner is a celebration. A salad bar and a five courses menu that is part of the half board make it a real treat. Wine pairing is possible, but also the numerous gin, cocktails and rums are worth it. Keeping in mind that the skiing areas is one of the best in Europe, the same with the après-ski, it must be that you create good memories. Thurnerhof’s staff is making the extra mile. In a relaxed atmosphere the provide service with a smile. Where in some places it feels forced, here you feel that staff just like to give you a great time during holiday. We will definitely come back as we always do, can’t wait for next year!
