Golden City Hotel Baku in Baku

I’ll be as lenient as I can. The room categories make NO SENSE! The ‘city view rooms’ come with two ultra small windows. The other ‘window rooms’ come with a useless window overlooking some government building.

The size of the rooms are TERRIBLE! Literally like living in a shoebox! We were delighted to discover that our room came with a free serving of MOLD! The guy on the reception is a brat. Rude as can be. His statement to me on disagreement was ‘this is not my father’s system’. You might choose to pay extra for what you think is a better room, but you’d be mistaken. I stayed in both the ‘deluxe room’ and the ‘economy room’ and both are very small. One is slightly bigger than the other but still very small.

The location is spot on. On Nizami Street, a couple of minutes from the boulevard, fountain square and old city. The bell boys and cleaners are super helpful and polite. That’s all the good about the property. If you’re purely booking the place for the location, go for it. If not…you are in for a treat!

Despite this review, if you choose to stay here, you’d be in for an adventure. 🙂

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The host contacted me via WhatsApp asking to cancel my booking, and when I refused, I was placed in a completely different room from the photos. The conditions were poor, the service was unprofessional, and I was forced to pay in cash as they refused card payment. Very misleading and disappointing.

I didn't live there but passed by it
