Hotel Balkan in Botewgrad

It’s a sport venue hotel. It caters primarily to sports teams. Rooms are nice and big enough, bathrooms are spacious and clean. If you go out of toilet paper you need to ask for more in the restaurant/reception and then do the walk of shame to your room with a roll of toilet paper in hand.
The hotel has a big parking lot, restaurant and big outdoor restaurant area. What it doesn’t have is an elevator and let me tell you this is a big no no for those of us who carry the sport equipment up and down a few times a day for training. Now, some of you would say ‘not big deal to carry a ball four floors a day’, and you would be correct, but try and carry 25 balls for training or a bag full of hockey equipment a few times a day in a not air conditioned staircase. Or your extensive luggage. Part of this problem could be solved by making a storage/locker room on the ground floor. And air conditioning the common areas.
The restaurant offers three meals a day for the teams and has a menu for outside guests. Food is average and not very creative but enough. Afternoon snack is not exactly a healthy one and there are potatoes in almost every meal so choose your menu wisely beforehand. 10 PM is lights out for the restaurant and outdoor area even if you are way above 18.
