Absolutely wonderful place to stay. If going to Sofia or Bucharest, Veliko Tarnovo is a great place to rest. Don’t just stay one night! There is plenty to explore. Brettandbear on all socials approves. The manager is a cat by the way.

The owner is super nice!
Environment is clean and tidy. We can lay on the cushions and chat. For sure the Cat Mama is the best!

Probably one of the best hostels ever not gonna lie. Imagine a big old traditional Bulgarian house in the heart of Turnovo turned into a hostel. Everyone was friendly, the owner is also nice. One little bit of a negative is that the floors and beds are a bit squeaky and they make noise when you move/walk, which is not nice when people are sleeping, but its not really that big of an issue, id go back many times and always recommend the place. Also the prices are great.

We had such an amazing stay at this hostel – we honestly can’t thank the staff enough. After a really disappointing experience at a previous hostel, we were so relieved to find this place. The team went above and beyond by letting us stay an extra night at very short notice!

The whole place was clean, cozy, and had such a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The staff – both permanent and volunteer – were genuinely some of the loveliest people we’ve met on our travels. Super helpful, friendly, and always up for a chat or a recommendation.

And we have to mention the hostel cat – the sweetest breakfast companion you could ask for. Highly recommend staying here!

Genuine and helpful staff and clean accomodation made for a great stay. Large seating area outdoors and next to kitchen as well as a cushioned area upstairs with charging ports to chill out on. My only issues were that the dorms don’t have blinds to block out the sun or a fan to circulate the air as it gets very hot in the summer nights. There’s also a limited number of showers to guests ratio (it was quiet when I stayed and wasn’t an issue but if it was fully booked it’d be an issue). Would stay again!

Great place to stay. The room are really nice. The location is pretty quiet and very close to the center (2 min of walking from the fortification).

Staff/volunteers are wonderful and go above and beyond to make your stay a good experience. The hostel itself holds a relaxed and social environment, but seems to be in need of some further investment - there’s no fan/aircon/blinds in the rooms and only two showers and toilets available. There’s plenty of relaxation space outside and inside too.

I rented a private room and it was very spacious, bright and nicely decorated. It has a cosy common room where you can relax and socialize, it is at a nice quiet spot away from the main roads and all the noise but still within walking distance from the center. Free parking on the street too. Just beware of cats😸

The worst hostel experience ever. When we came to the hostel at 10 pm the temperature in the room was +5C and the heater was turned off. So you can sleep outdoors and the experience will be almost the same. It took almost 6 hours to make the temperature in the room close to normal. But in the bathroom even next morning there was extremely cold, so it's impossible to take a shower. Probably it's ok in summer , but in winter I won't recommend anyone.
Share your experiences, help others make the right choice!
Think about what you would like to know if you were looking for a review about a place to relax. Please describe in detail what you liked and what you didn't. What would you advise to other guests and to the hotel owner. The more fully you tell about the hotel, the easier it will be for other people to make a choice and they will be very grateful to you!
