Reviews
When I arrived to check in, I was told that my room was not ready. Instead of apologizing or offering a proper solution, the staff suggested that I pay extra for a room upgrade in order to check in immediately.
At first, the upgrade was offered for $100 (with the original room priced around $200). When I declined, the price suddenly dropped to $75, and then again to $50 after I refused. This felt extremely unprofessional and gave the impression that I was being pressured to purchase an upgrade for an issue that was clearly the hotel’s responsibility.
The manager on duty, Pema, handled the situation, and it appeared that the repeated offers were more focused on selling an upgrade to increase performance or sales metrics, rather than resolving the guest’s inconvenience. This approach made the experience feel transactional rather than customer-focused.
After refusing all upgrade offers, I was told to wait about 30 minutes. This could have been communicated from the beginning instead of repeatedly pushing paid upgrades.
As an apology, they offered only a 1-hour late check-out, which felt inadequate given the delayed check-in and the way the situation was handled.
Overall, the customer service was disappointing, and I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.
On the flip-side the hotel has best views of the Horseshoe falls and fireworks. The breakfast was also good. The bell boy was good. Its just the room service that needs improvement. Anyone going to this hotel must carry their own water bottles with them
The staff have repeatedly been rude, unhelpful, and unwilling to accommodate reasonable requests. One of the most significant issues is the elevator system, which is completely inadequate for the size of the hotel. Waiting times are excessive and unacceptable—on our most recent stay, it took nearly 40 minutes just to get downstairs to check out. This severely impacted our departure and overall experience.
Parking is offered at an additional cost, yet it is off-site, requiring guests to shuttle back and forth, which is highly inconvenient and poorly communicated.
Room assignment practices are also problematic. Regardless of the room type booked and paid for, guests are initially offered a lower-quality room. Only after prolonged discussion—and in our case, nearly 30 minutes of insistence—was the correct room provided. Guests who do not challenge this practice appear to be given rooms that do not match what they reserved.
Overall, this hotel does not deliver value for the price charged. For the same cost, travelers would be far better served staying elsewhere or spending their money on dining and experiences with a view of the Falls, rather than enduring the frustration associated with this property. I do not recommend booking here.
The hotel itself is dated, but the location is excellent and the Falls view is truly beautiful. Unfortunately, the service did not come close to matching the price or the Hilton name.
Front desk staff were pushy and came across as rude during upselling, which made check-in uncomfortable rather than welcoming.
The valet experience was the most disappointing part. At $100 per day, basic professionalism and helpful customer service should be expected. The young woman working in the valet office was extremely unprofessional, unhelpful, and more focused on personal conversations than assisting guests. She openly discussed being moved through different hotel placements due to family connections, laughing with coworkers. This was inappropriate to overhear as a guest and reflects poorly on staff training and management standards.
Elevators took an unusually long time, though the staff managing that area were polite and helpful.
Breakfast was also underwhelming and did not meet expectations for this brand or price point.
Overall, the view is the highlight. Unfortunately, the service experience did not reflect what should be expected from a Hilton Fallsview property.
