Reviews
I arrived today at 12:00 noon, tired and cold, fully prepared to check in .. I dealt with this rude lady at the front desk by the name Heeper or Hipa (not sure what the right spelling is) I was told flatly that despite rooms being available, I would not be allowed to check in because it was not 3:00 PM yet. No flexibility. No empathy. No attempt to accommodate. Just a robotic repetition of policy.
As a result, I was forced to sit in my car in the cold for three hours waiting for an arbitrary time to pass, while empty rooms sat unused inside. This wasn’t about availability it was about rigid, careless enforcement of rules with zero concern for the guest experience.
When I finally checked in, I asked for the manager’s phone number to escalate the issue. Shockingly but not surprisingly not a single staff member could provide it. Every response sounded rehearsed, evasive, and intentionally designed to block accountability. Either the manager is deliberately unreachable, or the staff has been trained to dodge responsibility. Either way, it’s a joke.
Let’s be clear, policies exist to guide service, not replace common sense. Hotels all over the world allow early check-ins when rooms are available sometimes for a small fee and sometimes just out of basic decency, not this place.
This place doesn’t treat guests like paying customers it treats them like inconveniences.
If this is how they handle something as simple as check-in, I can only imagine how they handle real issues when something actually goes wrong. The lack of flexibility, transparency, and leadership is alarming.
There are far better options out there with staff who understand hospitality is about people, not just rules. Save yourself the frustration, the cold, and the feeling that you don’t matter book literally anywhere else.
Deluxe Inn has successfully ensured I will never return, and I hope this review helps others avoid the same experience.
I've stayed here with my family once and visited more times after because it was one of the better hotels in the area with great staff and cleaners, very friendly! They even have an ice machine in the lobby that you can use whenever you'd like and some free coffee/tea. Rooms have nice furniture and good interior design and the place looks much nicer in the inside than on the out! The internet is pretty good here aswell. The only problem I really had was in one rooms where there was an ant infestation in the bathroom, so we had to switch rooms. The bedsheets are itchy and sometimes dirty which sometimes causes itchy red skin marks. Beds are comfortable other than that but the rooms are a bit small and tight to move around in. Although this hotel has it's flaws, it's still a nice place to stay at even if its pricey for the quality.
After the game to wait a bit for traffic to die down we went for dinner. While at dinner the hotel phoned and asked if we ere checking in. I advised yes, we called earlier to confirm any time was good and are out to dinner after the game. They asked how long, I said a couple of hours. Within the next hour in a half I got another call from them asking if we were checking in. I advised we were in traffic in an uber on our way but didn’t have a time frame as traffic was at a stand still. They then advised they tried to charge the card on file in full for the booking. I told them they can’t do that it’s for a deposit only.
When we got to the hotel to check in, the gentleman asked for the car license plate. Which we had given hours ago. Then he charged us the full price of the booking before we even got into the room. He then tried to charge us an additional $200 deposit ontop of paying. We refused to pay a deposit if they were charging us in full. I have stayed at many hotels around Canada, USA, South America and Europe and have never been charged the full amount prior to checking out. It’s always a deposit hold then payment.
He stated he was new and gave us our keys.
Across the street had a late night car meet where muscle cars and loud mufflers revved up and down the street all night long. Made it very hard to sleep.
The room looked decent enough. Simple, older, clean looking. However we would soon find out the room has creepy crawlers at night. Now I don’t believe it was bed bugs. I believe it was midges or chiggers but after 2 nights I woke up with 10 huge welted itchy bites on me. On my hand, arms, neck and face. My travelling companion also found themselves with multiple bites a day later. The welting and itching was so bad we both had to go to the doctors and obtain a steroid to calm the down.
Based off this experience I would NOT recommend this facility and would never stay there again.
