The electric kettle was broken! Yes, it was cracked! And the shower head was faulty; I couldn't adjust its direction or height. After trying for ages to fix it, I gave up because I was too exhausted to even ask for a room change. It's unbelievable this is a Renaissance, a Marriott sub-brand!

This is my first time giving a negative review for a Renaissance hotel, and it's for this one in Wuhan. For a Marriott-branded hotel, the service was unbelievably bad. I got out of the car with my child and two large suitcases, and the bellboy just stood there watching me struggle to carry them. When I got to the room, there was a strange smell. I called the front desk, and it took almost an hour for them to move me to the room next door, which also had a smell. Eventually, they just brought an air purifier. The sink in the bathroom had some yellowish stains, and I have no idea what they were. For a hotel rated 5 diamonds on Trip.com, this level of poor quality is truly unprecedented.

The soundproofing in the room is really bad; I could hear every word spoken by the guests next door last night. The bathroom facilities are outdated, and the showerhead is broken, spraying water everywhere.

This is my first time leaving a bad review, but this hotel was truly awful.

I often stay at this hotel for work, and I checked in on the evening of April 8th.

1. Upon arrival, two front desk staff, a man and a woman, were both assisting one guest with check-in. One was helping while the other just stood there watching. I waited on the side for 3 minutes before I couldn't take it anymore and asked the person who was just watching if they could help me. It was almost midnight at that point.

2. While checking in, they said they couldn't find my name. After a lot of searching, they finally found my booking using the Pinyin of my name.

3. After finding the booking, they asked if I would accept a 'cat-themed room'. I didn't want it, but they said it was the only double room available, so I was forced to accept.

4. I asked if my room included breakfast, and the front desk said their system was down and they couldn't check.

5. When I got to the room, I found it wasn't a 'cat-themed room' at all, but rather a room specifically designed for guests bringing their cats. It had various cat facilities, and the room reeked of cat odor as soon as I walked in. I still tolerated it.

6. When I tried to connect to the Wi-Fi using my room number and name, it didn't work. I then realized that after I agreed to the cat-themed room, the front desk hadn't done any updates in the system and just gave me a key card – essentially giving me someone else's room. This was incredibly frustrating.

7. I called the front desk and demanded a room change, but there were still no double rooms available. Finally, I was given a twin room. The male staff member at the front desk said the manager on duty would call me the next day to explain and apologize.

8. It's now 8 PM Beijing time on April 9th, and no one has called me to explain anything.

I've truly reached my limit, which is why I'm writing my first ever bad hotel review.

The facilities are a bit dated. There's a street with many restaurants not too far away. My requests for the room, sent via Trip.com, were completely ignored. The service attitude and quality left much to be desired.

The room facilities are a bit dated, and I haven't seen a toilet without a soft-close lid in years. It's livable, but definitely not worth 700 yuan – poor value for money. As for the service, it was hard to describe. When the customer before me, who was a Black foreigner, checked in, the front desk attendant smiled and handed them the room card with both hands. But when it was my turn, there was no expression, and the room card was just casually handed over.

Chose an old-brand five-star hotel for New Year's Eve. The service was great, but food deliveries couldn't be brought directly to the room; I had to pick them up at the front desk. The room was clean and comfortable, and the New Year's Eve atmosphere was very strong. Overall, it was a good experience.

I've stayed here several times, and the facilities are a bit dated. The first room they gave me was at the end of the hall, so I asked to switch. The second room had a strange bathroom smell, so I had to buy an air freshener myself. The bedding was quite comfortable, though, and I slept well. I'd give it a 70 out of 100. They don't have 24-hour ice service, which is something they could improve on.
