VH Atmosphere - Adults Only in Puerto Plata

I live in Puerto Plata for a year now but on weekends, my husband and I travel all over the Dominican Republic to different resorts., hotels, and Airbnb. Road trips!!!!

FYI....I’m staying at this resort as I write this for 2 nights,3 days. This is night ONE. Friday!

1. The guy at the front desk upgraded our room for free with a king size bed. Thank you kind sir. 🤩
2. Shower above us leaked, flooded our bathroom and wet my clothes.😢
3. The lady who is now at the front desk downgraded us “because that’s what you paid for”. Isn’t she sweet?!?!😔
4. The balcony lock is broken in our new room so we can’t go outside but I can see how nice it is from the window.🙄
5. My sunglasses broke- not the hotel’s fault but a theme is forming.☹️
6. Our first meal was great, Thank God, and most of the staff is friendly (except lady at front desk, very cold woman)🤨
7. Within, 5 hours of being parked in their gated “secured” resort, our new 2020 motorcycle was vandalized in their parking lot. We are told there are NO security cameras. Great! 🤬
8. There is no manager on site in the evening to help with any problems so we have to wait until tomorrow.😐
9. There is NO entertainment (or animation staff that I’ve noticed doing activities) so choose your company wisely as your travel partner IS your entertainment. Thanfully I have an awesome man that makes everything fun.... we were the only people dancing. 😁
20. The resort is pretty empty.

If the owner replaced the rude lady at the front desk and the 2 female managers who just couldn’t be bothered to help, this resort was be ok. In a year, with the right manager in charge, this resort would be amazing.

Recommendation... Go to Cofresi or Tropical at Lifestyle for fun or to Gran Vantena to relax in quiet.

+ The hotel is beautiful. The grounds are well kept. There are events for everyone from Spanish classes to Bachata lessons to Karoke night. The people are lovely, the food is incredible, the 10 minute walk to the beach is peaceful and pleasant and the bar (included) at the beach is well stocked with snacks and drinks. The young lady that checked us in (sp?Mulady?) was an incredible force of nature. Fluently speaks several languages and should really be working at the UN in my opinion. I will definitely be back with my husband for our anniversary.
- I upgraded my room from 1 double bed to 2. The new room had such a strong chemical odor that my eyes started to water, I got a headache and had to sit outside for a while. The cleaning crew brought in coffee grounds and put them in all the drawers which helped a bit but I decided to keep my clothes in the closet rather than put them in the drawers.

+ Perfect getaway. Staff was awesome.
- 10mins walk to the beach but got used to and pretty walk.

The resort is very nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was not the best and there was only limited options. There is so much more they could do when it comes to food. We had the royal package and it was worth the extra money - access to the private pool and the vintage bar is what made this vacation. Our room was spacious and clean.

It is our first day here and we give the resort full marks for meeting our expectations as described to us by our travel agent....small, quiet, etc. Our first dinner out was not so good. Slow service, considering the resort is not busy, they did not bring me my first course, the mains were just okay and we left before dessert due to slow service. So we hope for much better the rest of the week.

To sum up our entire stay I would recommend this resort to adults looking for a small and quiet place to chill out (no boom boom party pools here). Overall we enjoyed ourselves. Are there opportunities for improvement - of course, but nothing we encountered was a show stopper. We took the "Royal package' and we felt the extra perks were worth it - upgraded room, private bar with premium brands, private pool with bar, small private area at the beach, etc. The staff were great and the food overall was good. So we give it a thumbs up and would return.
