Staff generally described as very friendly, attentive, and accommodating, with some guests highlighting individual employees by name for excellent service. The beach is praised for its clean sand and beautiful waves, suitable for windsurfing and other water activities. The pool areas are well maintained and popular among guests, with afternoon events and evening entertainment adding value. Complimentary lessons in windsurfing and introductory diving are appreciated, especially by groups focused on water sports. Family-friendly facilities such as the kids’ club and babysitting services are noted positively. Numerous guests reported poor room conditions, including cleanliness issues, unpleasant odors, broken air conditioning, leaking bathrooms, and maintenance problems such as broken phones and leaking ceilings. Food quality received frequent criticism, described by some as inedible or consistently poor; specialty restaurants sometimes required early reservations with limited availability. Complaints about inconsistent drink quality and bar service, including long lines and rude staff behavior, were common. Several reviews mention unreliable hot water and multiple power outages during their stay. Guests highlighted issues with guest services being unresponsive or dismissive, including slow housekeeping and poor management follow-up on complaints.

Horrible, the food is horrible, the staff they don’t care about the guest, dirty, the rooms are ugly and dirty. We have to go out everyday for every meal.

They have excellent service.
The staff is lovely.
The food is great.
I loved the beach, although the waves are huge, so people need to be careful, especially with kids.
Overall, I had a great experience at this resort, with a great price and excellent service.

The initial room I was assigned was filthy and smelled strongly of sewage. After complaining, I was moved to another room, which was marginally better but still felt unclean.

Staff showed little interest in guest experience and seemed primarily focused on selling timeshares. Guest Services were rarely available, and when they were, they were dismissive and ineffective.

The food was consistently poor and inedible.

This property does not meet even the most basic standards of a hotel. It felt like a mass-processing operation rather than a place focused on hospitality.

The room was not up to standars, bathroom in bad conditions, paint poor, balcony doors in very bad shape, AC was too cool or off, Bar was good, Staff was very good, food was not excellent, was there but not good, the new year's banquet was excelent.

We are on the plane home now.

I’ll be honest… I came with low expectations, but as we are leaving I’ll be honest and say that I don’t think we’d ever return. The beach is beautiful, the pool is great, the staff are amazing, but the rooms we had (yes, we had to switch rooms more than once) were not great (think leaking AC and water coming out of bathroom pot lights; part of the ceiling came down in our first room) and the food wasn’t that good. I wouldn’t say it was horrible, but I’ve travelled the world and love trying new cuisines (I’ve eaten off street vendors in Bangkok at 2am lol) but the issue here wasn’t that it was ‘different’ from what we were used to. It honestly wasn’t that great. Sunday night my pork kabob was not cooked properly and I chose not to eat any meat after that. The restaurant manager (one of my faves there) was amazing, and dealt with everything, but he can only do so much.

If you get the chance, and you’re already going, I would upgrade to a superior ocean room. I’ve heard they’re much better. We also didn’t have a working phone (security issue) and the toilet didn’t work no matter how many times we asked to have it fixed.

All in all, I don’t have any regrets and we had a great time, and the pool/ocean/staff made things bearable but I wouldn’t return even at the price we paid.

The staff were the best thing. Very attentive and always there to help out. The staff were super friendly and accommodating.

Our check in was 30 minutes late, and the food subpar. The specialty restaurants were subpar and the food was ok-ish.

Let me start with the good: most of the staff was friendly and helpful. The beach is clean and sand is soft. We enjoyed the good-sized waves. The pool area was well maintained. After staying at other Viva locations, we realized we would never come back here for these reasons: We didn't have hot water-they fixed it, but that made the water pressure turn down to a drizzle. We were left with no towels 3 days in a row(we had to go get them) guest services didn't seem to care much. Never received a wash cloth even after requesting. Didn't restock toilet paper or fill soap dispensers. King size bed was very hard and uncomfortable.
Relaxing by the beach and pool was nice until someone started smoking (and someone was almost always smoking.) There should be a single smoking area off to the side of the main areas.

No hot water for the week we were here, no matter how many times we asked for it to be fixed, after 10 minutes there’s ice water pouring on you. Multiple power outages, we put the card on the door to please clean the room and all they did was grab the dirty towels and put a bag of a couple towels hanging from the outside of our door. The activities that you would normally expect to be inclusive on an all-inclusive resort like ping-pong, pool tables foosball I’ll require a deposit some of them $50 American just so you can play. Drinks at the bar were very inconsistent. Every bartender made the same drink completely different so you never knew what to expect when you were getting a drink.. Tried to bring some food to the patio to eat and got stopped and told you weren’t allowed to move out of the designated area. Beds are not comfortable at all and the pillows they gave you are super flat. We ended up with nine pillows because we kept calling for more. Just to be a little bit comfortable. The entertainment staff was pretty decent. It would be nice if the resort had more things for people to do throughout the day instead of just the designated entertainment times.. stood in line for drinks and the bartender completely ignored me. We had to form a single file line to be served which I get with two bartenders, but if I’m next in line, I would assume I would be the next one up,not skip me and help the next two people. Went to get towels for the pool with our towel card, and the guy looked at me in the face and said no more towels, but he had a whole pile of them behind him on the counter. After questioning him, he magically remembered that he had a couple towels behind him and gave me one so my son could dry off. Food is touch and go…. There was some good options..not crazy good….. entrance to our building flooded frequently at night…. entertainment is on the third floor of another building and the elevator, of course is broken so any seniors and people with disabilities could not go upstairs to enjoy the shows at all. Bathrooms in the lobby we’re frequently backed up for hours and not cleaned. If you call down for four extra towels for your room, they’ll bring you to every time.

I stayed at the resort for four days, and from the moment I arrived I felt uneasy and regretted my decision. Unlike other areas of the Dominican Republic I’ve visited, this location was nerve‑wracking and unsettling. My room, situated in the main corridor, was constantly noisy with staff playing loud music, shouting, and being disruptive at odd hours. On the first day, I discovered a bloodstain on the bed cover and mattress that housekeeping never replaced, shelves crawling with ants, and a floor marked by a large spill that was never cleaned. Housekeeping did not sweep or mop, and only half‑heartedly made the bed, leaving me to shake out my own sheets. The walls showed multiple layers of paint covering mold, and construction in the adjacent room caused cracks in my walls, with debris left in the shared walkway that was never cleaned. The food was consistently terrible—burnt French toast, scorched eggs, rubbery pancakes, undercooked meat, and pasta so salty it was inedible. Even staff complained about their own food quarters. Drinks were watered down and tasted odd. On the beach, guests were relentlessly harassed by merchants returning repeatedly, making it feel more like a crowded market than a relaxing escape. To make matters worse, restaurants and activities listed on the app were unknown to staff, leaving guests confused. If I could have returned home on the first day without losing money, I would have.
