The staff was lovely, beautiful restaurant and lounge area. The fact that the hotel is in old buildings but has elevators is great for those who travel with a little bit more.
Great location - able to walk to the old town/port but a little out of the tourist area so you're not bombarded with crowds outside your door.
Hotels should always provide water- without the amazing restaurant this would have been a 2/3 stars because there’s one water dispenser on the first floor. If you’re on the third floor you won’t be happy
At check-in the night before, the lady at reception was extremely kind and helpful. I asked if it was possible to stay until 12:00 instead of the usual 11:00 checkout since we had traveled from far, and she graciously agreed. She made me feel welcomed and treated me with warmth and respect.
Unfortunately, the experience the following day was quite different. When I went to check out at 11:45, the man at the desk was unfriendly and told me off for not checking out at 11:00. He mentioned extra charges for staying until 12:00 or later, although eventually he said I didn’t have to pay. His tone felt cold and unwelcoming. When I asked about my complimentary VIP drinks, instead of explaining kindly, he analyzed my card and then pointed me to the bar without much courtesy.
This contrast in treatment left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. I couldn’t help but wonder if my experience would have been different had I been of another background. A smile, a thank you, or simply being asked how my stay was would have made a big difference.
