I booked a room at this hotel for two men with separate beds. This was an important requirement when making the reservation.
Upon arrival, we were given a room with only one bed, in a "romantic" configuration, which was completely contrary to my reservation.
I immediately refused to stay and requested a refund, as the service was not provided as agreed. Despite this, my refund request was denied.
I have already written twice to try to resolve the situation, but each time my request is rejected without any explanation.
I am very disappointed by this lack of professionalism and respect for customers.

Great neighborhood restaurants
Cool vibe throughout. Neighborhood was about 20-30 minute walk from the Vieux Porte and major tourist attractions. Neighborhood had some great local restaurants. Breakfast was very good.

Great hotel/concept - we're planning to try others
All staff really went out of their way to help us to plan our stay in Marseille. Great food and we were not made to feel at all rushed, even though we did not check in until 10pm+

Comfortable rooms with access to the great hotel restaurant at all hours. Best meal we had in Marseille was a dinner at the hotel. Fantastic breakfast buffet. Fun and vibrant decor. Short walk to Old Port and most of Marseille. Staff very friendly and able to help us in English. We highly recommend Mama Shelter!

Location is great if you want to experience the “raw” side of Marseille. Very well located around great restaurants , bakeries and public transport. Direct bus to Calanques natura park ( Cassis ) and other places in the city.
Rooms and very basic. Not super clean , but great bed and good bedsheets, airconditioned room with fridge. The food in the hotel is overpriced and not worth it. Eat outside and stay just for the night! Perfect.

It was our first time Marseille and first time Mama Shelter and neither disappointed! The people working at reception are welcoming, the mixologist at the bar makes great cocktails, there are underground parking options, and the rooms are clean. Unlike some other reviewers, I thought the area is great: you have a lot of nice bars in the area, you can have a nice local breakfast at cafe La Muse or enjoy natural wines and veggie food in Winesucker x Mercato. No 5 stars for Mama Shelter, because bathroom products were too limited (had to buy our own liquid soap, but since we’re in Marseille this wasn’t difficult), and our room could’ve used a sitting area or couch to fill the empty space and make it more cosy. Overall the rooms could benefit from a TLC makeover, but the cleaning staff did what they could to at least make it feel fresh. This Mama is welcoming, and although she aged a bit by now, she still takes good care of her guests.
