Morada Hotel Arendsee in Kuhlungsborn

It was a birthday weekend, a break for my husband and me. We were really looking forward to it, but unfortunately, that joy didn't last long.

The room was okay, but the heating system needed bleeding; the noise was annoying. It also never got properly warm. There was no heating at all in the bathroom, so the towels couldn't dry – completely unacceptable in winter.

The food was mediocre; as they say, hunger makes you eat. On the positive side, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

We wanted to spend Christmas in a family-run hotel for the first time in 2025 and treat ourselves. However, this didn't quite work out.

The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Our room was on the third floor with exterior walls. It was small and appeared to have been recently renovated. The furnishings were good, there was sufficient light, and we slept well. A drawback was that it was designed as a family room. The connecting door was locked but not insulated, so conversations could be heard.

The bathroom was newly renovated, and the fixtures worked very well, but there were no hooks for hanging towels.

The existing bars were either mounted too high above the toilet bowl or too low above the open toilet brush.

The heating also didn't work properly. The radiator was nice and warm at the top but mostly cold at the bottom. Two complaints made no difference. No one spoke to us about it.

There was no information folder about the hotel in the room.
When we asked, we were told to ask the staff if, for example, we needed to... We wanted to know when the sauna was open.

The staff (the reception was unattended) were polite and tried their best to answer our questions, although the answer was often, "That's what management has decided."

The buffets varied in quality, although this is also a matter of personal taste. There was no cold buffet on the first few days—unless you consider dry bread or bread with lard or butter to be a cold buffet.

Considering the problems mentioned, we will not be booking this hotel again in the future.
