For some time now, Engel Obertal has been my favorite escape when the days get darker and colder, it somehow makes the rainy season feel like a treat.

The hotel itself is fabulous. The restaurant, wellness area, the garden and gym feel like they belong to another world.
The gym especially is in a stunning round glass foyer with panoramic views and is equipped with the latest machines kept in excellent condition.

The spa area is truly relaxing, with multiple saunas and pools to choose from indoor, outdoor, natural water, and even a saltwater pool.

Service is warm and professional, and the food is excellent, with plenty of healthy options.

Every stay leaves me recharged and grateful, a true gem in the Black Forest.

A dog friendly hotel with special rooms allocated. Our room was beautifully decorated, large and very comfortable.
The hotel and it's garden's are immaculately kept.
The staff are very friendly and professional in their duties.
We enjoyed a delicious lunch.
The five course dinner was along par with what you would expect from a Michelin Star Restaurant.
The Spa areas were a great experience and relaxing.
Unfortunately we had to leave very early and could not experience the breakfast.
Great location in a quiet peaceful scenic location.

Black Forest is beautiful but don’t expect a real five star experience here. Even for German standards the service is very poor in a way that the staff is always right and the customer is always wrong. Wrong information given at check-in resulted in not being able to use wellness facilities, Overall it’s a shame they don’t even seem to try to train the staff to communicate with guests, resulting in global 3-star service at 5-star prices. Small room overlooking a parking lot didn’t make things better yet service can always save the hardware but here they actually sink the ship. Management nowhere to be foubd found (they have all gone home now) and low level staff simply being aggressive. Regret coming here and would recommend others to choose more wisely as there are fabulous places in the area.

The lobby and overall hotel are beautiful, and the location is excellent—surrounded by stunning natural views. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the room service was also good.

We stayed at this hotel in June, when the weather was quite hot. Unfortunately, the room did not have air conditioning, nor was there an eco-friendly alternative like a portable or cable-based cooling system. I’m not sure why—perhaps it’s part of an effort to reduce environmental impact given the natural surroundings.
That said, the hotel staff did provide a portable fan, and we truly appreciated that effort and showed they were attentive to our concerns. However, this was not enough and it did not cool the room.

To cool the room, we had to open the windows, but there were no screens or nets, so flies, bees, and mosquitoes easily got inside. Despite keeping the windows open, the room remained uncomfortably hot, and we struggled to fall asleep for several nights

We had a wonderful stay at Engel Obertal. We decided to book a chalet as we brought our dog along, which we through would be more practical.
The hotel and the chalet aswell as the whole installations were perfect. We had a wonderful time for our 3 night's stay.
The staff was really kind and friendly.
The whole area offers perfect opportunities for nice walks, long and short ones.
The spa is also very nice.
Can only recommend to pay it a visit.

Wonderful! The staff, the food, the atmosphere, the walks near by, the spa facilities. We really enjoyed ourselves and we enjoyed the piece of black forest cake on our way home. Many thanks and we look forward to our return. B&G
