We have just toured the Black Forest on our bikes all the way from the UK
We stayed here so we would be at the start of the B500
What a great place , spotlessly clean, food 100% and the Chef & team were absolutely spot on ..
Anyone who leaves a 1 star review clearly hasn’t worked in hospitality ..
We had a 1700 mile round trip and stayed here for 3 nights ..
We will be back for sure 🏍🏁🍺

Traditional restaurant a short walk from the funicular base station. Full of locals it seemed which is always a good sign. We stopped for some cake as our accommodation host recommended it. I also had a goats cheese salad which was excellent.

Can’t say enough about the excellent staff, great room, wonderful breakfast and excellent food in the restaurant. Everyone was helpful and informative. We stayed two nights and ate there both nights. Food is well prepared and very good portions. This is a very quiet hotel on a hill and within walking distance to the vehicular incline which provides beautiful views. There is plenty of free parking and only a short walk to the bus stop should you wish to go into the city. Definitely would stay here again.

We were in the restaurant. The food was very tasty! That's what the star ist for. The service was just annoyed with our presence. She kept smiling, but it was such a fake smile - it was like she HAD to smile. She was annoyed every time we ordered something. And we were a lot of people, so we left a lot of money there, and a generous tip! Nothing changed in her attitude until we left.
It's a really nice place! It's in the woods, and it's so quiet! Very nice. And the food is good! But never again! I tried it 2 times - every time the same, although not the same lady.... This ruined the whole experience. So, no thank you...

I did not stay in the hotel so I cannot talk about the rooms or hotel part of Waldcafé. However, the restaurant is brilliant. There is a really nice outside eating area which is very pleasant when the sun is out. The food is very great, the service very quick and the people were very nice. If you're on your way to Merkurberg or even on your way down, make sure to make a stop !

The food (cake) was very delicious. However, the service was really bad even though there weren’t many guests in. Additionally I found a piece of onion in my coffee which is just not acceptable.
