If you like a hotel that has no one available at the front desk (or elsewhere on property), does not respond to phone calls and emails asking for help, and has failed basic technology for automated check-in, then this is the place for you. We booked two rooms, but received just one room number and entry code. We were stranded in a city with two young kids that had a major festival happening so there were no rooms elsewhere. After two hours of trying to get someone to respond, we basically hacked their automated system to so it sent us the second entry code. (Not great security on B&Bs part.) We saw others having problems as well. The next morning the person at the front desk was condescending. When I told them no one would answer the phone or reply to an email, he said "No they don't monitor those." He pointed to another phone number, which we and others guests had tried and found not to work, and said it must be our American service providers. (The other people trying to get in touch with them were German, so that answer was B.S.) When I told him the automated check in technology sucked, he just looked away and said, "Yes it is not very good." He then offered one (1) free breakfast as compensation -- for basically all the stress and costing us two hours on our only night in Bayreuth. We ended up having to eat festival street food because by the time we did get into our rooms, restaurant kitchens had closed. He reluctantly gave us credit on one of the two rooms because I told him one free breakfast was not acceptable in a loud enough voice for some other guests to hear me. If you say your front desk is open until 10 p.m. on all your promotional material, then it should be open. And if you are not going to provide human support, then your technology should perform flawlessly. This experience was terrible. If someone at the hotel had a medical emergency or needed the police, they would have been in serious trouble. You'd have to hope that you were able to get to the lobby and call the police yourself. If this is the future of hotels, then the travel industry is in a real tough spot. What's worse is that travelers are in for more trouble than it is worth. Fix your problems. Until then, people should avoid B&B Hotels.
