Stayed here 2 nights. Room was beautiful, staff is amazing. The restaurant has great food. Buffet breakfast, fantastic. Can't say enough. Highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Maximilian was quite enchanting. The location is ideal since it sits in the heart of the village where you can find unique shops, restaurants and a beautiful cemetery with interesting headstones of past generations. The hotels decor was unique and tastefully done. The room was incredibly comfortable and clean. The staff was pleasant and attentive. Notably, the breakfast was exceptional.

I know this seems trivial, but so often I find that a hotel ends up having neglected features...this was NOT the case at Maximilian. Beautiful setting in Oberammergau, this hotel is in a perfect location to walk all over the town. Hiking trailing are close by and you can even walk to Ettal Monastery if you are motivated. Nice location and amenities. Bathroom in room is a little weirdly designed as there are windows into the room so your companion can see you using the bathroom. What a great place! This is a great property that is well worth the price. The family that runs it are wonderful. We had a wonderful room with a balcony. It is very up to date. There is even a reasonable cost to use the laundry. Breakfast was outstanding with numerous selections.

This is an excellent place to stay when visiting Oberammergau. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast excellent and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. We stayed here in 2023 and again this past July in 2025. The hotel is conveniently located in Oberammergau and is an easy walk to restaurants and shopping. If we ever return to Oberammergau we would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful place, comfortable accommodation and great service. The guest pass gives you free bus travel and that was really useful for us. We would definitely stay again

This hotel had very friendly staff who went out of their way to be helpful and informative. The room was spacious and clean. Parking was very convenient.

I was a little worried after reading some negative reviews about customer service after booking, but I had no issues at all. Few staff speak English, but I had no issues with poor customer service or misunderstandings. If you are looking for a hotel where staff are following you around constantly checking up on you, then this is not the place for you... But if you are a typical Brit who wants your...

Beautiful property, within walking distance of restaurants and shops, great updated bathroom. I loved the view of the alps and walking around the area. Wish I could stay one more night!

Very convenient if you are planning to go to NATO School - 15 min walking. It is also the first stop if you take the shuttle from NATO - 5 min by bus. Nice breakfast. Small gym and sauna. 5/10 min walking to city center. 15 min walk to the train station and to supermarkets - LIDL.

Walkable to the NATO school if the weather is nice and on the bus route- but off season it lacks friendliness- arriving in the morning after trans-Atlantic flight- the - come back at 1pm was not at all welcoming- I had to push my way in to leave and not wheel my suitcase around town for three hours! No coffee in the room and staff chatting amongst themselves and ignoring the guests Very inflexible...

Great hotel for value in Oberammergau! Our room had a nice view and balcony. We even swam in the pool even though it wasn’t totally warm outside. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty and fresh and starts at 6.30 which we appreciated! A nice walk into the center of town! Can totally recommend this spot!

We had the most amazing stay here. The views were amazing, and the staff was incredible. It’s just a cozy hotel and we felt so welcome and warmed by the staff :). The included breakfast was phenomenal, and it starts nice and early if you have an early start to your day. There is also a pool which is also nice for the sunny days. 10/10 recommendation staying here in this hotel in this cute little town...

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location

Location superb, breakfast outstanding. Restaurant good but husband’s order not correct.

The hotel is centrally located, which makes it great for getting around. Overall stay was okay, but the place feels outdated and parts could use renovation. Breakfast was average at best, and the broken coffee machine didn’t help. Decent for a short stay, but not memorable.

We have been customers for 3 days in Alte Post Hotel. I left my heart there. There are no words to describe what a wonderful place is ! All stuff is kind, try to help in everything. I want to return as soon as we can !

Perfect location to enjoy this amazing Bavarian village. Rooms were very modern and better than in the picture. Free parking at the hotel and lovely staff. We would definitelly stay there again

I have stayed in many similar hotels in rural Bavaria but this one was outstanding. The room was nice and tidy, good breakfast, and the hostess was super nice and helpful.

This hotel is a must-stay if you're attending NSO. It's perfectly located close to the school and offers a delicious breakfast. The receptionist, Katja, was incredibly supportive, addressing all my needs and requests and keeping in close contact via email. Thank you so much for your professionalism and kindness!

I did not stayed here for any night, but came here just to wait for 3 hours, Katja gave me tea and showed the beautiful terrace. I was impressed by the genuine, calm and pleasant attitude of the place and service. If you like historical roots of interesting places (this hotel has its secrets!) and calm accommodation with tasty food - you should definitely choose this one.

Katja welcomed us perfect, she is a great host. She felt us at home, made us really comfortable, been there for our all needs, even for my son’s doctor examination.

A very nice hotel in a good location. It is especially nice to start the morning with a good breakfast prepared by the always smiling hostess. The rooms are a good size and quiet.

This was an excellent hotel for a 2 week stay. The hostess is extremely friendly and goes out of her way to help. The rooms are extremely spacious and everything is kept very clean. One of the best stays I've had, largely due to the great hostess.

We loved our stay here. We came for the Passion Play and Erol & Petra made us feel so at home. As if we were family. The place itself was excellent. Very close to the station and to the city center, it was super clean, comfortable, the room was spacious, the beds and bedding were great. We really enjoyed ourselves there!

This is a beautiful hotel right next to train & bus station, short 5 minutes walk to Passion Theatre and centre of town and a mini mart at the petrol station opposite the hotel (which opens till 10pm while we were there). The room was very clean and beautiful and the owners are super nice and helping. We asked for later check in, because of arrival time in the evening and they manage that without any issue.

The Jugendherberge is a very good option for a hotel while staying here, unfortunately not all the rooms were with the bathroom. And lastly the neighbourhood was very good looking
